The opportunity:
KBR Australia is seeking an experienced Weapons Communications Systems Engineer to act as authority on matters relating to weapons, navigation, control, combat and communications systems. The Weapons Communications Systems Engineer will independently make decisions within delegated engineering authority relating to weapons, navigation, control, combat and communications systems.
In this position you will:
Provide advice on technical risk and assist with the certification of the Materiel and/or Support System in accordance with the applicable Defence technical and seaworthiness regulatory framework.

Provide Subject Matter Expert advise to the Principal Engineer related to weapons, navigation, control, combat and communications systems.

Independently monitor and advise the Sustainment Engineering Assurance Manager on progress of systems design, development, deployment, utilisation and support.

Maintain awareness and oversight of the system requirements sets.

Independently develop system interface definitions and subsystem design requirements.

Independently conduct or participate in technical investigations, system analysis, requirements development, scope of work, design development and design review and verification and validation in support of Engineering change proposals.

Independently review engineering design deliverables and technical artefacts at stage gates and/or contract milestones.

Provide assurance services during implementation of new or modified systems including, installation, set to work and commissioning.

Lead, coordinate and advise stakeholders within the ACS enterprise to achieve and deliver system specific engineering activities.

Actively engage stakeholders and participate in system reviews and working groups related to weapons, navigation, control, combat and communications systems.

Independently provide engineering support activities on technical subjects to a range of enterprise stakeholders.

Independently provide guidance and technical leadership in support of Commonwealth and Contractor staff integrated into the ACSSPO.

Provide timely communications with all stakeholders as necessary to foster good relations with the ACSSPO and their customer(s).

Develop good relationships with subcontract agencies engaged in the support of the ACSSPO assets.

Maintain an awareness of contract obligations of various stakeholders supporting the enterprise with the view to provide assurance on behalf of customer.

Provide a level of HR support to direct reports and in general the recruitment of new hires

As the ideal candidate, you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Telecommunications, Computer Sciences, Electronics/Control Systems or a related discipline).

Minimum 10 years-experience in a similar position.

Experience with Requirements Development, Design Review and Acceptance within a regulated technical framework, in Defence (Maritime, Air or Land).

Experience in Combat Systems, Combat Management Systems and/or Communications Systems.

Experience in Radio Frequency and/or Satellite System Communications design and integration

Experience in Systems Engineering and Systems Integration including interfaces sub systems

Demonstrable knowledge of Navigation Systems

Demonstrable knowledge of ICT systems and architecture (LAN, VoIP etc) including hardware (routers, switches etc)

Highly developed organisational and analytical skills.

Strong client and staff engagement, relationship, and communication skills.

Demonstrated abilities to develop positive working relationships.

Ability to obtain a Negative Vetting (NV1) security clearance
