Job Description
Independent journalism has never been more important. The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and the Financial Review are Australia’s most awarded newsrooms, telling the biggest stories with bravery and balance. Every month, 12.8 million Australians trust us to deliver breaking news, investigative journalism and unmissable analysis on the issues that matter.
We’re looking for a talented Experimentation and Insights Manager to manage our experimentation programs. Working alongside the Head of Subscriptions Development, you’ll help deliver an experimentation strategy that will improve and enhance the subscription experience and help achieve revenue, subscriber acquisition and retention targets for our brands.
You will have experience working with data to drive smart and effective campaigns, drawing on customer insight and CRO best practice. Key to your role will be strong experimentation planning and execution, optimising, monitoring, reporting and analysis of performance.
This will be done in close collaboration with your colleagues in the wider Subscriptions and Marketing team and cross-functional colleagues in the Product, Tech and Data teams. Together, you’ll execute strategic and tactical experimentation campaigns to achieve our revenue and ROI goals.
In this role you will:
Design and execute landing page and marketing funnel tests to improve conversion rates within experimentation platforms
Build experiments in various platforms (HTML, CSS), monitor performance and report on results
Collaborate on an experimentation strategy per brand, to deliver a roadmap that leads the business in achieving revenue and engagement metrics
Ensure all key stakeholders have input into the experimentation strategy, in alignment with the business’s commercial objectives
Analyse activity effectiveness, amending roadmaps where necessary and clearly outlining rationale to stakeholders
Measure and report performance of experiments and cross-channel marketing campaigns
Analyse and report on customer journeys across multiple channels and touchpoints
Develop and evolve actionable insight reporting per brand that explains the customer funnel and drives subscription conversion
Qualifications
You are:
A self-starter with experience in a data lead or experimentation focussed role or similar (experience in a subscription business will be highly regarded).
Excellent understanding of Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) best practices and methodologies
Experience using reporting and data visualisation tools such as Tableau
Experience accessing and analysing customer data, digital data, and external data sources
Have a natural affinity with data and have the ability to produce and analyse reports, then interpret the data that leads to actionable insights
Able to approach things with a fresh perspective and confidently communicate directly with peers and senior stakeholders
Able to perform in a rapid, dynamic environment where critical thinking, creativity and confidence are highly valued
