The Role
The Warehouse and Distribution Manager leads an integrated team of APS, ADF and Industry Partners responsible for delivering Defence capability outcomes to support the ADF meet their operational responsibilities. This senior management position is responsible for monitoring contracted service delivery outcomes provided by the national Warehouse and Distribution Industry Partner Linfox and the national Clothing Store Industry Partner Ventia.
Key focus areas for this position are:
Inventory & Logistic Management – including forecasting Warehouse stocking requirements, procurement of consumables and repair parts, Loan and Equipment Pool management as well as return stores and disposals.
Contract Service Delivery oversight - including Key Performance Indicator (KPI) achievement, service delivery, forecasting activity levels and negotiating with stakeholders to identify risks. 
Stakeholder engagement – be the interface between the ADF services / regional customers and the Industry Partners, enabling JLU(NQ) to deliver logistic outcomes on specific tasks, short notice and emerging requirements.
Leadership & Team Management – provide support and coaching to staff on technical and HR related issues.
About our Team
The Joint Logistics Unit (North Queensland) is Townsville based, located at the largest defence base in Australia, Lavarack Barracks. JLU(NQ) is a mixed military and civilian, organisation that delivers a range of logistic services to Australian Defence Force elements operating across North Queensland. 
JLU(NQ)'s functions include distribution, warehousing, materiel maintenance, inventory management, regional distribution, supply, and clothing services. It also provides logistic advice and support to other government agencies and allied foreign forces on occasions.

As the ideal candidate you will be highly motivated and have extensive experience in logistics and contract service delivery, including planning and forecasting new projects. You will be able to earn the trust of a range of stakeholders by demonstrating your ability to develop rapport and communicate with personnel at all levels. 
To succeed in this position, the successful candidate will have:
Experience in a similar role, in particular logistic and inventory management.
Demonstrated Contract Service delivery experience, in particular collaboration and relationship management to achieve outcomes.
Proven track record as a Manager of a medium size team, and a desire to improve themselves and others.
Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to liaise and build relationships across and external to the organisation.
Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritise a changing workload and negotiate an outcome.
A passion for continuous improvement, focusing on innovation and improving process and procedures that in-turn provide effective solutions.
Good understanding of, or ability to acquire an understanding of relevant legislative frameworks and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
