Financial Controller - Global Retail and Fashion Business
The Company 
Based on the fringe of Melbourne’s CBD, our client is an iconic apparel and retail business. One of the world’s most recognisable brands, they are extremely well respected within their field. Headquartered in the US, they have a network of offices across the globe, with this role focused on the Australian and New Zealand Business.
The Role  
Reporting to both the Country Manager of Australia and New Zealand, and the Asia Pacific Finance Director, you will assume the responsibility of the Australian and NZ Finance Function. Drawing on your combination of technical and commercial finance skills you will lead the finance function, to ensure profitable growth as well as compliance with relevant statutory and accounting laws. You will be an important member of the ANZ Senior Management Team. Managing a small, but high performing team, you will be responsible for leading the following processes:
Financial planning including the budgeting and forecasting process.
Business partner with all department heads and senior managers.
Working closely with the Finance Business Partner to deliver meaningful analysis and management reporting to drive commercial decisions.
Prepare timely and accurate local Statutory Financial Accounts including New Zealand and Australian Consolidation
Ensure compliance with US GAAP accounting policies.
Accurate and timely submission of monthly actual results, monthly business review decks, quarterly financial forecasts to the regional teams.
Support an outsourced relationship for transactional processes.
Mentor and train the finance team, as well as driving process improvement and accountability
As a key member of the leadership team, contribute too, and help drive a positive business culture.
The Candidate  
CA /CPA qualified and with a relevant business degree, you will be a well credentialed leader with previous experience managing a high performing finance team. You will have strong technical accounting skills, ideally developed by commencing your career in a Big 4 or mid tier accounting firm. You will have up to date knowledge and experience with Australian and New Zealand tax. Additionally, you will be commercially astute and understand the commercial drivers of a business. With first class stakeholder management skills, you will be capable of business partnering with other division heads as well as managing relationships across all levels both locally and overseas. Systems savvy, you will have large ERP experience. Previous experience working in the retail sector would be advantageous, however not essential.
