Gambling harm affects individuals, families, communities and populations. Accordingly, we take a public health approach to harm, which comprises evidence-based awareness, prevention, early intervention, education, and treatment and support programs. Our strategic priorities are to:
Foster community understanding of gambling harm to lay the groundwork for the attitudinal changes required to prevent and reduce gambling harm
Inform and deliver prevention and intervention activities to reduce the harm in populations, communities and settings most affected by access and exposure to gambling products
Strengthen the funded services system to provide accessible, integrated, relevant and visible options for the delivery of effective treatment and support to those seeking help for gambling harm
About the role
Situated in the Foundation's Strategic Communication & Marketing branch, this position plays a pivotal role in the conceptualisation and execution of stakeholder events, including Gambling Harm Awareness Week and ‘Love the Game' program activities. The role is responsible for designing professional, targeted and high-quality communications and online media activity to support events and build the Foundation's reputation as a trusted source of information on prevention, early intervention and support services for people experiencing gambling harm.
About you
You are an enthusiastic professional communications all-rounder with significant experience in event management and a strong track record of creating excellent communication materials that resonate with different audiences.
Passionate and pragmatic, you are highly motivated, a strong team player with a can-do attitude, flexible in your approach to tasks and resilient in dealing with change. Detail oriented, you are super organised – always thinking and planning ahead – and thrive in a complex and demanding environment. You are also adept at overcoming challenges and forming positive, collaborative relationships.
Importantly, you enjoy working on a diverse range of projects and contributing to work that has meaningful outcomes.
Essential skills/experience:
demonstrated experience in event management, logistics and project management
high proficiency in writing original copy, editing, and repurposing content for the web, intranet and social media platforms
demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and reprioritise as necessary
expertise in using content management, event booking and electronic direct mail systems
an understanding of state government purchasing and procurement processes (highly desirable)
a tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in communications, public relations or a related field.
