We are currently supporting a leading company in the diverse industries of Steel Trading, Non-Ferrous Distribution and Construction. They are known for importing a broad range of steel, steel-related, non-ferrous and construction related products into the Australian and New Zealand markets.
They are currently looking for a Production Supervisor that understands the importance of customer centricity and urgency, and who approaches their work with a solution-oriented mindset. The ideal candidate will have strong planning and time management skills and be able to delegate and follow up with the workshop staff effectively in order to ensure production deadlines are met.
The chossen candidate will also need to have exposure to inventory control and comfortable with the back-end paperwork (SAP exposure advantageous). You will be required to be hands on and operational on the workshop floor when required and be adaptable to the needs of the business. Experience with waterjet cutting and exposure to ISO Quality principles that would be advantageous, as well as a forklift licence.
Required experience and responsibilities:
Production planning - providing visibility on production and live updates on order status
Manage production demand and workflow scheduling
Liaising with management to ensure outcomes and deadlines are met
Reporting regularly to the General Manager on all production and staff matters in order to maintain communication and feedback
Expediting orders - monitoring each order as it goes through production and track its progress
Allocating material - ensuring the best yield is achieved from an operational perspective
Running the waterjet cutter - being responsible for this aspect of the business including creating programs for quotes and order confirmations
Running the daily production meeting - going through the production schedule and leading the team to meet the set targets
Engaging in the manufacturing process ensuring the appropriate set up, production and shut down of equipment are completed
Applying quality controls during the manufacturing process to ensure production and quality are in-line with
the customer requirements
Ensuring conformance to specifications of all products and processes in order to maintain compliance with company policies and safety standards.
To be successful you will have the following skills;
Experience or trade in engineering, metals or aerospace industry
Experience and/or ability to operate production machinery - waterjet cutter
A high level of accuracy in their work
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and operate different technological platforms i.e. AutoCAD, SAP etc.
Time management and task prioritization skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to learn computer operations relevant to machine operations
Experience in working to strict work procedures in relation to safety, quality and specifications
Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Willingness to work various shifts as needed (day, afternoon or night)
Self-motivation and the ability to work as part of a team
Commitment to maintaining a tidy and safe work environment
Hold a valid forklift licence and have high reach and stand on forklift experience, would be advantageous.
