Description

The Bureau of State Parks, Parks Operations and Maintenance Division is looking for energetic individuals to learn the administration, operation, and maintenance of a state park or park complex.  If you are a proactive individual who enjoys both hands-on work and administration, these positions will afford you the opportunity to learn how to oversee park operations and direct a staff of hard-working, dedicated professionals.

As a Park Manager Trainee, you will be responsible for assisting established Park Managers in the administration, operation, and maintenance of various state parks as part of the training program. On occasion, heavy physical work is required, and hazardous conditions may be encountered. You will be required to work outside in varying climactic conditions, including inclement weather. Hiking, and climbing over rough terrain will be required. Attendance at meetings, public events, etc. may require working outside of your scheduled shift.

While this position is headquartered at the Parks Operations and Maintenance Division office as a trainee, you will be traveling to State Parks throughout the Commonwealth for day trips and/or overnight trips. This could be for temporary work assignments, trainings, etc.  After successful completion of the Park Manager Trainee period, you will automatically be promoted to a working level Park Manager 1, and then will apply for competitive reassignment or promotion to a Park Manager position within the Bureau of State Parks.
