About this opportunity 

Our digital content designers are responsible for creating, updating and reviewing content for the web and other channels. Working alongside a team of content specialists, you’ll write high-quality content that meets user needs and supports the implementation of the One UQ Web Roadmap Program. You’ll also propose other content solutions where appropriate, including video, interactive tools, infographics and forms as required. The successful applicant will be comfortable taking direction, working independently, building positive relationships with stakeholders and translating complex information into simple and engaging content.

Our ideal candidate has a strong background in writing and also understands how users engage with online content. You’ll be comfortable working with specialists from other areas, including UI, UX, marketing and communication, and you’ll have experience working with internal stakeholders. Most of all, we’re looking for someone who is curious, can deliver high-quality work and can manage the complexities of working in a large organisation.

What will I be doing? 

  • Working to develop core content (determining where required the most appropriate medium to meet user needs) for the website and other digital channels that supports agreed business goals and user needs.

  • Advocating for best practice in content development with reference to the digital behaviour of stakeholders including developing and delivering training to the wider content authoring community

  • Writing, editing and reviewing high-quality written content for website, social, nurture and campaign in line with written style guide and digital tone of voice for brand.

  • Acting as an advisor and editor, while working closely with business areas and subject matter experts, to deliver stakeholder-centred content.

  • Developing well structured, accurate and styled digital content that demonstrates adherence to approved guidelines, legal and regulatory guidelines as well as usability principles.

  • Undertaking content research and development including briefing, writing, sourcing, reviewing and coordinating all new content

What can I bring?

  • Undergraduate or honours qualification in communication, journalism, writing or a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training.

  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing content, including an aptitude for translating jargon-heavy and complex information into simple, usable language.

  • Great attention to detail, including an ability to check content for style, sense and correct use of HTML tags.

  • Strong planning and organisational skills, including an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. 

  • Effective interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate clearly with subject matter experts, technical staff and university stakeholders at all levels.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and challenging situations. 

  • Ability to help your team by taking initiative and prioritising your own work. 

  • Familiarity with content management systems such as Drupal, accessibility standards, basic HTML tags and digital best practice.

  • Broad knowledge of digital marketing and social media content, including targeted content.

What we can offer 

We have 2 full-time, fixed-term positions available through to December 2024 at HEW Level 6. 

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $82,399 - $88,503 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $96,407 - $103,549 per annum. 

The following flexible employment options may be available for this role: some working from home; variable start or finish times; compressed hours; purchased leave; flex-time.
