THE OPPORTUNITY

How you can help.

In this role you will be leading the stakeholder engagement for the Government Affairs and Policy function by partnering across the business to influence and create third-party policy and advocacy relationships with stakeholder groups to drive favourable outcomes in the external environment. You will be responsible for driving J&Js reputation with key decision makers and opinion leaders through strategic partnerships, external forums and company events. You will also provide research support and analysis in the political and policy space.

 

What you’ll do.

  • Support the development and maintenance of relationships with external stakeholder groups and constituencies involved in shaping dialogue on policy issues, including patient groups, medical professional organisations, think tanks, industry bodies and trade associations.
  • Develop and maintain understanding of current policy issues affecting the Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals businesses and prepare high quality written briefing materials for executives.
  • Work closely with other GA&P ANZ team members to support efforts to proactively shape stakeholder dialogue on key policy issues which impact the business, patient care and consumer outcomes and access to healthcare.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of current political trends and implications for the company and provide internal counsel on political matters, including the monitoring of parliament and relevant parliamentary inquiries
  • Develop, maintain and oversee the Australian strategy for sponsorships and partnerships including working with administrative, legal and compliance stakeholders to manage internal approvals process and development of agreements. Maintain compliance databases and reporting where required.
  • Support internal reporting on GA&P activities and prepare reports and presentations where required.

Qualifications

Who you are.

  • A track-record of industry experience in communications, stakeholder engagement or politics. This can be experience in a Ministerial Office, Government Agency, public sector or consultancy with an in depth understanding of the regulatory, reimbursement and government health policy environment.
  • You possess a strong understanding of the health policy issues and the Australian political environment, with strong networks across the key political offices and the public service.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, working collaboratively with industry groups or individuals to drive positive outcomes aligned with the business’s objectives
  • Ideally tertiary qualifications in communications, public policy, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong networks and ability to influence and persuade others.
  • You are highly analytical, a strong collaborator and a problem-solver focused on developing policy, shaping government relations strategies, understanding business implications, and recommending actions.
  • Ability to bring teams together across matrix style organisations  and able to lead projects confidently.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
