System Planning works on the AEMO Integrated System Plan, the 20-year blueprint guiding the future development of the east coast’s power system, as well as the System Strength and Inertia Reports, and the annual Network Support and Control Ancillary Services Review. As Australia’s power system transformation continues, the System Planning group is dedicated to enabling the re-engineering of the power system to efficiently deliver a future system that will securely integrate large amounts of renewable energy and distributed energy resources. The primary focus of the Engineer position is to provide engineering expertise to assess power system capability and develop solutions to meet current and future stakeholder needs. The work predominantly includes assessment of power system capability and performance using specialised power system analysis techniques and tools. What you will be doing Undertake stakeholder engagement and support the preparation of advice and proposals for consideration by supervisors and management in relation to network planning matters. Perform power system modelling and analysis of the electricity transmission network using computer simulation tools. Provide technical support and advice on electricity planning and performance issues to ensure information is available for the safe, secure and reliable operation of the power system. Contribute to the production of key planning documents Integrated System Plan, Electricity Statement of Opportunities, Network Support and Control Ancillary Services Report, System Strength and Inertia Reports).
