    Reporting to the Environment & Heritage Business Partner, could you be our next / new Advisor Environment & Heritage - Ecologist? The primary purpose of the Ecologist position is to provide subject matter expertise and technical support to significant project and asset management works to ensure compliance to environmental and heritage legislation and internal procedures.

    About the role

  • Identification of ecological risks and provide advice on appropriate mitigations.
  • Undertake and report on Ecological Assessment requirements.
  • Determining permitting pathways for rail maintenance and construction activities in accordance with relevant legislation and requirements.
  • Conduct Ecological Assessments and prepare Ecological Reports.
  • Conduct targeted Flora and Fauna Assessments.
  • Providing practical advice to onsite staff on ecological management.
  • Develop and deliver Ecological Awareness Training materials.
  • Develop Conservation Management Plans.
  • Reviewing environmental controls and construction environmental management plans (CEMPs).
  • Key selection criteria for the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in Ecology, (preferably Landscape Ecology or equivalent).
  • Sound knowledge of the political, ecological, and social issues of ecology in South-eastern Australia.
  • 5 years or more post-graduate experience in research or applied natural resource management.
  • Rail / linear reserve management or similar industry experience highly regarded.
  • Vegetation Quality Assessment (VQA) Accredited Assessor or willingness to obtain.
