The Southern Program Alliance (SPA) is one of five alliances responsible for removing 75 of Melbourne’s most dangerous and congested level crossings by 2025 as part of Victoria’s Big Build transport infrastructure program. The program alliance consists of the Level Crossing Removal Project, Metro Trains Melbourne, Acciona Construction Australia, Coleman Rail, and WSP.
SPA has around 900 staff across a variety of areas including engineering, design, community relations, finance, and IT as well as an on-site workforce of up to 1700 workers during its busy construction periods. The program alliance prides itself in incorporating sustainability within its design and delivery as well as engaging with relevant stakeholders such as Traditional Owners and social enterprises to deliver safe and long-lasting legacies for communities. Position overview
Reporting to the Manager, Continuous Improvement & Innovation you will add value to the team by encouraging a building of knowledge and procedure documentation for future impacting programs of work. As Document Writer you will create and simplification process documentation enables knowledge sharing and provides key insights into process improvements to serve a growing database of procedures, policies, templates, guides, training materials, communications and report templates. Responsibilities: Write and edit technical documents, including reference manuals, policy manuals, and procedural documentation such as user guides. Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organisational standards. Provide high-level, accurate, timely and strategic communication advice and support to CI Team and BI Team. Meet with key stakeholders in the SPA business to determine and discuss requirements for process documentation, reporting and other templates. Research and provide mock samples to understand the product fully. Assess audience needs for technical and procedural documentation and adjusts tone and technical terms to meet those needs and ensure understanding. Plans writing processes and sets timelines and deadlines. Create or works to create diagrams, charts and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a procedure, template or process. In summary Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency in the use of video creation tools Excellent spoken and written communication skills Qualifications Bachelor Degree or equivalent in a related field highly desirable Formal writing experience, including previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite of desktop applications and related software packages, with proficiency in Excel a must
