Job Description

The Benefits Manager will analyze current benefits, and design, recommend, and implement new benefits for the organization while interfacing with vendors, and internal and external customers. You must be comfortable working and communicating remotely, as our whole team works remotely.

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develops, implements, and maintains cost control programs and processes to maximize coverage with the lowest cost to the organization and employees.
* Assist with managing vendor relationships to ensure that services meet all expectations and are in accordance with policies, contracts, performance guarantees, regulatory compliance, and cost control objectives.
* Maintains company compliance with all applicable Federal, state, and local laws, including state sick pay/leave laws, retirement requirements, and health & wellness regulations.
* Partners with HR Technology to project manage and lead the overall planning, development and execution of test plans/ test cases, communications, and overall delivery of annual open enrollment.
* Provide leadership and development to Benefits Analysts and Administrators
* Partner with the carriers to test, communicate, and manage the annual enrollment period for the non-qualified Deferred Compensation Plan. Respond to participant questions and escalations.
* Leads roll-out of new plans and plan changes by managing system testing/implementation process, configuration of life events in the system, designing, and conducting training sessions, and documenting any processes or audits required because of the changes.
* Own year-end updates to systems and data, working in tandem with payroll and HR Technology; assist the team with their owned processes and reviews.
* Leads all system data related to employee benefits plan eligibility and ensure that vendor files are accurate and error free.
* Resolves escalated issues for employees that are more complex.
* Identifies process improvement opportunities and best practices. Update documentation and SOPs. Implement approved changes as appropriate.
* Reviews and provides input to plan documents, benefit agreements and insurance policies, and partners with vendors to effect changes.
* Preparation of reports, testing and applications as required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies (PCORI, TRF, 5500s, NDTs, and required notice distribution)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

Minimum: 60,300

Maximum: 126,600

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Required Qualifications

* Possess experience working with employee benefit programs and vendors, supporting HRIS systems, vendor interfaces, and integrations
* Deep subject matter expertise in the areas of health & welfare plan design, operations and administration, preferably in-house administration, and operations
* Deep subject matter expertise in regulatory and compliance matters including but not limited to HIPAA, ACA/ PCORI, ERISA, Non-Discrimination Testing, 5500s, and related state/local laws.
* Strong focus on supporting and educating participants and "customers" at all levels, with the ability to diffuse and manage escalated issues
* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, across departments (e.g., payroll, finance, treasury, HRIS, customer service, HRBPs, etc.)
* Ability to perform research on benefits and escalations and present supported recommendations for process improvements
* Ability to deal with ambiguity and be flexible
* Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required
* Possess knowledge of legislation governing benefit plans (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, PPACA)
* Ability to identify and implement cost-effective financial programs

Preferred Qualifications

* Professional HR certification through accrediting agencies such as SHRM, HRCI, or World at Work preferred.

Bachelors or equivalent experience
