Essential Duties

1. Creates a climate that inspires staff to be motivated and productive. Promote professional growth for self and staff. Hire, train, evaluate, and supervise support staff. 2. Strives for service excellence to support clinical teams to accommodate routine and urgent imaging studies. Oversight of priority requests and directs triage activities. 3. Develop and implement orientation and training of new technologists, maintain staff competencies and coordinate the training necessary to keep staff current with the latest technological advances. Maintain training records and deliver annual performance reviews. 4. Daily collaboration with YNHH DI to ensure completion of all imaging studies performed at either location for YH members. 5. Participate in the resolution of patient service issues in collaboration with staff and the Yale Health Patient Representative. 8. Oversee performance of Q.A./Q.I. activities of department, including exam and image quality, equipment systems, etc. Assess documentation of problems encountered. Investigate and respond using an alternative process, staff education or referral to appropriate resource. Ensure appropriate documentation is completed and maintained. 9. Serve as primary contact with American College of Radiology, West Physics, DEEP for oversight and adherence to certifications, regulatory inspections and licensures. Primary contact for EHS regarding quarterly dosimetry, tracking of signed exposure records, 10. Responsible for contract review/negotiation with appropriate vendors. Ensure timely service of equipment for all modalities, instruments, power injectors for CT, MR, ionizing equipment. 11. Serve as primary contact/resource to Athletics for non-YH imaging site at Yale Bowl, including oversight of state required annual safety testing. 12. In collaboration with the Chief Radiologist, develop, maintain and interpret departmental policies and procedures. Interpret and implement University and YH policies and regulations for staff. 13. Work in collaboration with other managers on inter-departmental projects and work processes. 14. Work with the Chief to develop and monitor an annual budget. 15. Participate as a member of the following committees: Claims, Product Standardization, Infection Control, Code Blue, Environment of Care, Joint Commission Steering, Datix, PSOG. Serve as Chair of MRI Safety Committee. 16. Responsible for maintenance of supplies and equipment.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in related field and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, a 24/7 Acute Care Department, a 17-bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Patient Services, the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging develops coordinates, implements and monitors departmental operational workflow to optimize the delivery of quality patient care in Diagnostic Imaging. Leads and manages the operational activities for all modalities as well as the administration of all non-physician aspects of imaging services. Establishes priorities and develops goals and objectives for the department.

Manages the activities of professional and support staff and departmental tasks including, professional and support staff schedules, patient appointment scheduling systems and ensuring minimum staffing levels. Oversees and ensures that policies, procedures and practices meet the standards of accreditation bodies, including Joint Commission. Identifies opportunities and implements the improvement of existing processes. Addresses and resolves broad management/administrative issues such as planning for future programs and services, fiscal monitoring and control, patient scheduling, patient and staff safety, workflows, operational monitoring, regulatory compliance and the overall timeliness and quality of services provided to patients.

Works effectively in a cross-functional team environment, interacting positively and productively with staff. Develops and maintains strong relationships with physician chiefs, clinician team, managers, and employees across the organization. Serves as a key member of the clinical operations management team. Establishes trust and credibility at all levels of the organization, effects collaborative alliances, and promotes teamwork. Effectively manages resources and budgets.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Master's Degree in relevant field.
