Description

Role: Administrative Assistant

Department: Billing and Coding

Responsibilities:

* Performs administrative duties for the department.
* Screen and distribute incoming calls
* Managing calendars
* Meeting and event arrangements
* Preparing reports and financial data
* Internal and external customer relations.
* Assist with provider onboarding
* Verify patient insurance eligibility online and through various internal databases
* Updates and maintains departmental contact lists
* Coordinate with insurance payers coverage questions/issues.
* Compile, analyze, and organize information.
* Manages the reception area to ensure effective telephone and mail communications both internally and externally to maintain professional image.
* Processes requests for office supplies and equipment.
* Supervises the maintenance of office equipment, including copier, fax machine, etc.
* Greets visitors.
* Open and distribute mail.
* Manage conference room reservations.
* Update various spreadsheet and other general administrative duties as needed.
* Distribute and manage vendor work assignments.
* Schedule and conduct in person and online meetings.
* Produce meeting agendas and record meeting minutes.
* Act as departmental safety coordinator.
* Assist with other duties as needed.
* Perform duties as assigned.

Requirements:

* This position requires a minimum of 2 years related experience. 5 or more years of experience is a plus.
* Technical skill with Microsoft office products, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
* Ability to conduct Internet research as needed.
* Must be flexible and possess excellent interpersonal skills and project coordination experience.
* The ability to work well with all levels of internal staff, contractors, and vendors.
* Maintain relationships with outside clients, vendors and departments.
* Sensitivity to confidential matters is required.
* Ability to research and learn new skills quickly.

Desired Skills:

* Knowledge of medical insurance payers and plans. (HOM, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid)
* Ability to read and interpret patient insurance cards
* Knowledge of the EOBs and EOPs
* Knowledge of insurance coordination of benefits
* Basic bookkeeping skills with the ability to post payments to the appropriate account
* Ability to analyze and understand detailed workflows
* Create and develop flowcharts
