Brief Position Overview:

The Business Operations Manager is responsible for the management of fiscal assets for the WIC grant. This position works in close coordination with the WIC Director and Finance Office to ensure that the allocation of WIC funding is accurate and administrated according to policy. Provides administrative program support for grant contracts and assists with project execution, operations, quality assurance, and evaluation. The Business Operations Manager reports to and works closely with the WIC Director to act as a point of contact between external and internal individuals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Assist in all aspects of the day-to-day financial operations of the program including, but not limited to financial preparation and management, budget preparation, purchasing, invoice processing, and WIC revenue tracking.


* Tracks and documents key performance indicators.


* Coordinate activities of new contracts, amendments, renewals, and terminations.


* Submits on-boarding/off-boarding tickets into HR database and communicates and acts as the liaison between temp agencies and HCPH HR to coordinate onboarding dates.


* Executes projects, correspondence, communication, quality, assurance and evaluation documentation for the Harris County WIC Program.


* Assists with monitoring, filing and the actual documentation of staff performance appraisals and other documents.


* Maintains and promotes positive customer service within WIC, with other HCPH departments and customers.


* Schedules meetings and interviews, assists with room setup, takes messages, routes correspondence, and provides reminders.


* Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

* Bachelor's Degree in a Health-related or Business field



Experience:

* Two (2) years of experience working in financial, payroll, human resources or as an administrative assistant


* Previous experience building and managing high performance teams



Licensure:

* Must have a valid Driver's License (TX upon hire)



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Intermediate proficiency in current editions of Windows, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required.


* Excellent command of the English language, grammar and spelling.


* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

General Information

Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:

* Full-Time | Grant-funded


* Monday - Friday | 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m.


* Other days and hours as necessary.


* Telework option available after 90 days of consecutive employment.



Work Environment:

* This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.



Physical Demands:

* This is a largely sedentary role; however, some duties would require the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.



Work Location:

* Harris County Public Health (2223 W. Loop South, 77027) - Will relocate to Downtown Houston by the end of 2022.
