The Idaho State Tax Commission's Revenue Operations division has multiple Technical Records Specialist 1 (TRS1) openings in the Initial Data Operations and Registration and Processing units.

The qualified candidates will work within an engaging office environment performing a variety of tasks requiring entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system. Qualified candidates will be processing returns and items related to a variety of tax types including phone, email, and letter correspondence with taxpayers and their representatives. Candidates must be able to follow verbal and written procedures ensuring accuracy and compliance with rules, regulations, and/or policies.

For Initial Data Operation selections, candidates must be available to begin work at 6:45 AM for the mail delivery. For other units, the selected candidate must be available to work an 8-hour shift between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Principal Responsibilities:  

* Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries
* Utilize independent judgment and discretion as to the methods, policies, and procedures used to complete assignments
* Conduct involved searches, which may require accessing and selecting multiple information sources or contact with taxpayers, vendors, or outside sources to obtain information
* Review, evaluate, correct, and process records, payments, and/or documents
* Interpret or determine compliance with tax rules, regulations, statutes, and/or program policies and procedures
* Interpret, explain requirements, processes, and procedures to others, internal and external
* Access, maintain, and update manual and/or computerized records systems and develop reports
* May make and receive phone calls to and from taxpayers and preparers 

Experience:

* Monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors
* Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems
* Interpreting, explaining and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments
* Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system
