Description

Ohio Domestic Violence Network

ODVN provides standardized training and best practices to DV agencies as well as providing a number of survivor services, statewide and national policy work, and prevention/advocacy work. The mission of the Ohio Domestic Violence Network is to advance the principles that all people have the right to an oppression and violence-free life; foster changes in our economic, social and political systems; and bring leadership, expertise and best practices to community programs. ODVN has services for survivors including providing legal advocacy and attorney referrals, relocation assistance and projects on clemency for incarcerated survivors. We develop best practices in many areas related to serving survivors including accessibility, head injury, mental health, substance use, and trauma-informed care. Collaboration is a large part of the philosophy of the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. We participate in, facilitate many task forces, and have a project that links community support agencies together to better understand the needs of survivors. Education is a large part of the work we do at ODVN and we value the opportunity to provide that education to everyone, including a potential VISTA. ODVN enjoys fostering a culture of collaboration and continued learning. Members are supported as equals among staff and encouraged to offer insight and ask questions as they work. ODVN strives to seek diverse perspectives and lines of experience to better understand the intersectionality between poverty, domestic violence, and a number of other social concerns.
