PROGRAM SUMMARY: Easterseals Academy is a therapeutic school that provides schooling for children with an autism spectrum disorder, emotional disability, developmental delay or intellectual disability. School districts refer students to Easterseals Academy where the schools provide an alternative school placement for these students to help them to achieve independence. Easterseals Academy has three campuses, located in Chicago, Machesney Park and Tinley Park.

POSITION LOCATION: This position is located at the Easterseals Academy - Chicago Campus at 1939 W. 13th Street, Chicago 60608.

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Registered Behavior Technician is to provide services to students using researched based interventions, data collection, follow guidance of and support the behavior analyst. This position is responsible for assisting in functional behavior assessments, and development, coordination and implementation of individual student protocols and behavior intervention plans.


Adhere to all mandated reporter and OIG guidelines at all times
Assist Behavior Analysts with conducting functional assessments
Assist with the implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans
Assist in monitoring student behavior plans in the classroom
Assist and train classroom staff on behavior management techniques, behavior plans, and interpretation of behavioral data
Conduct assessments (such as, preference assessments, ABLLS/ AFLLS, VB-MAPP)
Assist in creating skill acquisition programming based on assessment results
Work with students on IEP goals and skill acquisition goals
Consultation regarding student performance as needed
Attend interdisciplinary meetings and other required meetings concerning student behavior
Attend all meetings as requested by administration
Assist in gathering accurate and consistent data as well as analyzing data collected
Graph student data for informational and program improvement purposes
Provide support in crisis situations
Obtain RBT certification with guidance of BCBA(s)
All other duties as assigned


State Approved Paraprofessional Certification
Registered Behavior Technician certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)

Experience Required:

Ability to perform all functions necessary to obtain certification in agency required crisis prevention and intervention training, and CPR
Experience working with special needs population necessary


Ability to multi-task in a high stress environment
Ability to interact with diverse personalities
