Our Next Design Drafter/ Engineer

Okane has an exciting new opportunity for a Design Drafter/Engineer to join our Oceania Operations team in our Perth office. This role will provide drafting and design support for integrated mine planning and mine closure projects.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Prepare sketches, figures, conceptual and detailed design (IFT, IFC level) drawings.

Plan and manage design requirements for projects under engineering supervision.

Collect, validate, and reduce data, perform data filtering and calculations, develop graphic representations of data and prepare chats and tabulations.

Prepare technical documentation.

Apply an understanding of key design principles to assist in the delivery of new approaches to solve basic problems.

Other duties may include:

Complete field investigations such as material sampling programs.

Assist with performing field studies for the collection and maintenance of data from scientific instrumentation installed at mine waste reclamation monitoring sites.

Assist with installation of field instruments for monitoring performance of reclaimed watersheds and / or mine was cover systems and / or mine waste storage facilities / landforms.

Formal qualifications in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Geomatics with at least 2 - 5 Years of experience.

Strong AutoCAD aptitude with experience in Civil 3D is essential.

Strong attention to detail and proven ability to deliver high quality drawings.

Keen interest to learn and develop in the mining and geosciences.

Experience preparing tender documents by developing designs for regulatory approval.

Exposure to earthworks and a general understanding of the process considered an asset.

Exposure to water and environmental monitoring is considered an asset.

Highly effective prioritization, multi-tasking and time management skills.

Experience working in Engineering Consulting or Professional Services is considered an asset.

Experience in mining is considered an asset but not essential.

Competent written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrate an ability to competently use their initiative to resolve tasks or problems that arise.

Experience in the compilation and analysis of geographical spatial data in the civil and environmental field is considered to be an asset.
