You will be working with a diverse and dynamic team within the Centre for Oral Health Strategy which is a state-wide function of the NSW Ministry of Health.

The Centre for Oral Health Strategy leads the strategic development and coordination of oral health policy and programs for NSW. The Centre monitors the implementation of population health-based oral health prevention initiatives and public oral health service delivery in NSW.

What you'll be doing
The Manager, Oral Health Services and Strategic Planning leads, directs, plans, and manages policy and performance monitoring to ensure the effective and efficient provision of high-quality oral health care services to the eligible population of NSW, and achievement of the NSW Health oral health strategy. The role will lead the Oral Health Services and Strategic Planning team and partner with the Local Health District Oral Health Directors and Clinical Directors, relevant branches from within NSW Health, external stakeholders such as professional bodies and advocacy groups, educational institutions, and other government agencies to develop and implement services, systems and programs which improve the patient experience, efficiency and effectiveness of public oral health services in NSW.

This position will also provide timely, expert advice to the Director, Centre for Oral Health Strategy, the Chief Dentist, Chief Health Officer and Deputy Secretary, Population and Public Health, and Local Health Districts on issues and strategies related to oral health service delivery, information management and technology, and the development of new models of care for public dental services.

The position is also responsible for day-to-day management and coordination of a number of ongoing projects, requiring direct management of 6 staff, and ensuring that Local Health Districts implement policies and practices as directed by the Centre for Oral Health Strategy.

Key outcomes of the role include:
Deliver the Full-Scale NSW Health Primary School Mobile Dental Clinic Program, including capital infrastructure procurement, policy and protocol development; and safety, quality and volume service delivery.
Implement Capital Asset Management for Public Dental Service Infrastructure.
Oral Health Fees for Service Scheme (Public Dental Voucher Scheme) Reform and improvement of the governance.
Support Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services Engagement and Continuing Education; improved access and oral health outcomes to Aboriginal people.

Selection Criteria

Extensive knowledge of the structure and operations of the NSW Public Oral Health system, as well as the policy and governance mechanisms in place.

Demonstrated highly developed written and verbal communication skills, particularly in relation to high level Briefs, Ministerial, Parliamentary enquiries; and ability to evaluate, review and develop appropriate policies in health environment, preferably oral health.

Extensive demonstrated capability to liaise with and obtain cooperation from key stakeholders within MOH and across multiple external agencies, and other jurisdictions.

Demonstrated experience in successfully managing projects in a complex health environment.

Demonstrated experience in managing staff in health-related discipline.

Demonstrated ability to manage financial performance in an environment of competing demands and limited resources.

Demonstrated ability to utilise technology and experience with relevant software packaging, e.g. Titanium Electronic Oral Health Record Systems, Microsoft Office Suits, Project Management software, Microsoft Teams, Trello/Tasks.

COVID-19 Vaccination Compliancy
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
