Overview Assist Senior Fund Accountants and Fund Accountants in preparation of reports and reconcile the client’s bank accounts and process transactions required for this purpose and to reconcile the clearing accounts. Key Accountabilities and Main Responsibilities
Preparation of investment reconciliations
Preparation of admin system to GL reconciliations (including members funds, contributions, benefits and suspense)
Preparation of budgets and reporting of actuals vs budgets
Preparation of Business Activity Statements and Income Activity Statements
Preparation of APRA annual returns and quarterly surveys
Preparation of FBT returns
Member Investment Choice reporting and unit pricing
Preparation of Payroll Tax returns and Workers Compensation returns
Processing of client payroll with payroll service provider (i.e. ADP or Talent 2) where applicable
Payment of group life premiums as they fall due
Daily bank reconciliations prepared, with all exceptions investigated and cleared
Monthly bank reconciliations prepared, with all exceptions investigated
Clearing account reconciliations prepared, with all exceptions investigated, with the ability to be cleared
Weekly cashflow monitoring and reporting to Fund Accountant
PAYG reconciliations
Stale cheques monitoring
Provide status update on daily bank reconciliation, cashflow management and PAYG reconciliation
Update issue log and follow up with the issues recorded
To adhere to Client Accounting processes
Assist Fund Accountants and Senior Fund Accountants as required
Adhoc projects and tasks as directed by Manager (e.g. process change or improvement initiatives, analytical reviews, reporting enhancements etc.)
Participate as a positive member of the team by co-operating with others to achieve the team’s goals
To build effective relationships across own team and to be considered ‘first port of call’ for general accounts queries
Experience & Personal Attributes
Working towards CPA/CA qualification
2/3 years’ experience in accounting
Ability to demonstrate a practical knowledge of all accounting concept and reporting issues
Above average PC skills using Word, Excel and other Accounting Products
Ability to meet deadlines
Good communication skills
Ability to work with limited supervision
Strong planning and organisation skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Strong analytical skills
Experience in or knowledge of one or more of the following areas is desired but not essential:
Knowledge of aaspire or similar administration system highly regarded
Exposure to the superannuation administration industry would be valuable
Knowledge of Quality Assurance procedures and compliance knowledge
Exposure to Tax Effect Accounting and Cash flow Statement preparation
