ADGA has a need for a Technical Architect to join an Enterprise Architecture team to provide guidance on solution architectures for project and operational initiatives. As a complex knowledge-based organization, the NRC requires an information and technology environment that supports and enables the speedy evolution of its assets and innovations. The KITS Branch works in concert with our security partners to ensure effective solutions are in place to support a wide range of specialized research and science requirements as well as business development activities.As a member of the Enterprise Architecture team, the Technical Architect will provide support to existing and future projects to develop and implement rigorous technical solutions that will enable and support research innovation. These solutions can range from providing collaboration capabilities with external research partners to high-power computing infrastructures to putting in place the necessary controls to secure highly sensitive data. In support of these projects, the Technical Architect will work with researchers and project team members to develop conceptual, logical and physical solution architectures and detailed design specifications that meet strategic objectives, while adhering to Government of Canada Enterprise Architecture directives, policies, and standards. The Technical Architect may be required to perform any or all of the following tasks:Analyze business requirements to identify information, procedures and decision flowsConduct options analysis for implementing a new solutionConduct cost/benefit analysis of a few viable optionsContribute to formulating option recommendationsReporting to the Project Manager and the Enterprise Architecture Manager, work with project team members such as subject matter experts and Business Analysts to deliver the project objectives.Identify and document the technical requirements;Provide oversight to the overall technical architecture by ensuring integration between the technology solutions;Ensure all technical and information architecture artifacts are stored in the appropriate repository;Work with project members to evaluate solution options, including risk analysis and impacts with the goal of a final recommendation;Develop technical architectures, frameworks and strategies, either for the organization or for a major application area, to meet the business and application requirements.Analyze and evaluate alternative technology solutions to meet business problems.Ensure the integration of all aspects of technology solutions.Evaluate hardware and software relative to their ability to support specified requirements and, by determining potential and actual bottlenecks, and improve system performance through recommended hardware changes.Review computer software systems and data requirements as well as communication performance requirements and determine operating systems and languages needed to support them.Perform impact analysis of technology changes.Must have Skills/Experience:Excellent organization skillsMeticulous at documentingExperience with documentation in various formats from different organizations (flexible)Ability to adapt to different format requirements (based on need, direction)Ability to analyze needs and develop suitable documentation approaches (if required)Self-managed and responsiveWork independently, manages their own time effectivelyResponsive to project needs, provides regular progress reports (status, progress)Works effectively in teams in a collaborative mannerExperienced in dynamic task management (flexible, adaptable)Experience writing process documents (i.e. documents that will detail a repeatable process)Experience with at least 2 of the followingHyperconverged Systems (Cisco UCS)NetworkingvMwareWindowsSQL ServerBackupsManagement Tooling Nice to have Skills/Experience:Experience with IT Security (and its associated requirements)Experience with GC PBMM environmentsExperience with GxP or GMP environmentsADGA commits to putting diversity into action to build a stronger, more representative team and help our customers and communities thrive.
