My client is an award winning accountancy practice based in London and Essex. They are a diverse company who offer a plethora of services to a range of clients, from small start-ups to well established organisations, across a wide range of industries and sectors. They pride themselves on their individual approach to create better strategies for their clients to succeed.

They are currently looking for a VAT Assistant to join their busy team. The role will entail preparation and filing of VAT returns, some bookkeeping for companies, partnerships and sole trader clients and responding to client queries.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Being the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients
  • Liaising internally with other departments regarding client matters
  • Contacting HMRC and other professional firms
  • Responding to client queries in line with our brand values
  • Processing and filing quarterly VAT returns
  • Assisting team members
  • Ad hoc assistance within the Company

Candidate Background

  • Experience with VAT preparation and bookkeeping is essential
  • Organisational skills and good time management
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with dealing with clients on a face-to-face basis
  • Thorough knowledge of Making Tax Digital rules
  • Knowledge of accounting software packages such as Iris, Xero, Dext, Quickbooks, Kashflow, Freeagent etc.
  • Strong computer skills, Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook
