Business Architect - Life Reinsurance - Global Change Programme

City, London / Remote - Hybrid

Up to £120,000 per annum + benefits + bonus

My client is embarking on a 5-year programme to redevelop the entire back office, globally. The Busines Architect will play a pivotal role in this initiative.

Role:

A Business Architect models the essence of an enterprise by defining the what, how, who, when, where and with what, to influence and impact the strategic decisions, operational improvements, and capability realisation.

Fundamentally, they collect information on the strategic positioning of an area of activity (line of business, business unit, department, team etc.) and create a clear picture of the capability gaps that may impede that area from reaching its full and necessary potential. This can often result in technology enablement.

Summary Description:

Business Architects are critical in aligning business and technology at a foundational level. This role contextualises strategy for operational needs, and develops business capability maps and value streams to help build the gap between strategy and execution.

This role develops and maintains business capability maps of the enterprise in line with corporate strategy, as well as contributing to the business strategy and plans.

This role also identifies and articulates the synergy between strategic development, business analysis, process management, operations and systems analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Architects must demonstrate their ability to:

  • Provide overall direction, guidance, definition and understanding of business architecture to effectively support business strategy
  • Create a blueprint that defines the way in which the various departments in a company are integrated
  • Capture the tactical and strategic enterprise goals that provide traceability through the organisation and are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance
  • Assist with the reorganisation of business process flows to better utilise resources
  • Present proposed business model or plans to senior execs
  • Support the business to identify opportunities for further growth
  • Evaluates new technology through a business lens
  • Define the data shared across the enterprise and the relationship between that data
  • Develop the 'to be' operating model of the organisation
  • Develop the roadmap to implementing the future operating model
  • Define the relationship among roles, capability and business units
  • Manage the business technology governance model and structure the enterprise regarding its governance, business processes and business information
  • Align strategic goals and objectives with decisions regarding products and services; partners and suppliers; organisation; capabilities; and key business and technology initiatives
  • Develop an integrated view of the enterprise using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework and standard techniques

Key Skills:

  • Ability to apply architectural principles to business solutions
  • Capable of recognising structural issues within the organisation, functional dependencies and across silos
  • Adept at assimilating and correlating disconnecting information using significant analysis skills
  • Experienced at modelling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable at engaging with all levels of the business
