Social Worker – Children’s

Are you looking to make a difference in Children's lives? Do you have social work experience of working within children's services?

Due to an internal promotion, we are assisting a local authority in Greater Manchester recruit to a 3-month temporary Social Worker vacancy within their Independent Reviewing Service.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • To Convene, Chair and record Cared for Children’ s Reviews in a way that supports the Young Person’s wishes and ensures that they are at the centre of all planning
  • To hold the Local Authority and its partner agencies to account on the young person’s behalf and where appropriate and in consultation with the young person challenge the Local Authority’s actions
  • Support the improvement of practice across all areas of the service that impact on our young people and ensure that all young people receive the highest standard of service
  • Chair both Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences, ensuring that both the young person and the families views have been heard and are informing planning
  • Produce SMART Plans which meet the needs of the young people and their families
  • Maintain records in line with the Local Authorities’ guidelines
  • Complete Reg 44 visits and reports
  • Provide advice and support to other professions in respect of the Child Protection and Cared for systems
  • Establish and maintain a continuous improvement methodology to your own professional development and related activity, alongside our ability to respond to the changing needs and any emerging trends
  • Demonstrate through personal example, open commitment and clear action; ensure diversity is positively valued, resulting in equal access and treatment in employment, service delivery and communications.
  • To undertake such duties commensurate with the level of responsibility for this post.

As the ideal candidate, you will:

  • Be a QSW, registered with Social Work England
  • Have previous experience working across children’s services
  • Experience in Chairing complex meetings
  • Experience in joint working arrangements with other agencies
