Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a renowned healthcare provider located on Long Island, NY which offers a full continuum of services. The Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a 460 bed facility providing services for short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, home care programs, an adult day health program, ventilator dependent care, palliative and hospice care, a new Memory Care Unit and on-site dialysis. The Gurwin Family of Services also includes the 201-apartment Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner assisted living community, and the Fountaingate Gardens independent living community on the Commack campus.

Our innovative facility and growing services offer opportunities to advance your career. We are looking for a temporary nursing payroll/scheduler.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Nursing Payroll/Timekeeper performs those duties significant to the daily business related to the time, payroll and schedules of all nursing staff.

+ Set up and maintain nursing staff schedules in SmartLinx.

+ Oversee that vacation/sick time are updated in a timely manner

+ Manage preparations of time schedule for all employees

+ Ensure that per diem and OT coverage as necessary for schedule and daily staffing with Nursing Administration

+ In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Nursing Services, maintains position control for the Nursing Department

+ Prepares Status Change Reports for all interdepartmental changes and terminations.

+ Handle all notification and receipt of documentation for unapproved/unexpected time off to complete payroll computation

+ Available to employees on a regular basis to answer questions about payroll discrepancies, holiday, sick and vacation time usage etc.

+ Thinks critically and forwardly regarding payroll information, data, trends, patterns, processes, systems, and exceptions

+ Thinks creatively about implementation options to optimize system functionality with knowledge of organizational structure, policies, and procedures

+ Ensure accuracy and quality of payroll reports and information disseminated to management

+ Stays up-to-date on current developments and practices in payroll field by participating in continuing education courses, professional organizations and seminars.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

+ Nursing office experience strongly preferred

+ Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel, and hands-on Microsoft Office Suite

+ The ability to work accurately and quickly in a dynamic office environment

+ The ability to communicate verbally and nonverbal in a pleasant, patient, effective manner with all levels of staff working knowledge of institutional policies
