Horton, Inc., a global airflow industry leader in reliability, service and innovation has an opening for an Operations Finance Controller to work in our Oconee location.
The Operations Finance Controller provides financial leadership to the Oconee County Director of Manufacturing and the plant management staff. The position reports to the Director of FP&A and is responsible for cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, monthly close, annual external audits for the manufacturing function, monthly plant reporting and variance analysis, and providing financial leadership for the manufacturing plant.

Operations Finance Controller Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic and tactical leadership in plant operations and corporate financial initiatives.
1.1. Partner with Plant Manager and leadership team to make effective decisions.
1.2. Participates in and supports Kaizen/Lean 6 sigma teams to support Operational
goals such as safety, quality, On-Time delivery, productivity, and cost
1.3. Identifies areas for operational improvements.
1.4. Actively spends time on production floor, learning processes and people, and
1 .5. Capital investment analysis.
1.6. Ensures Oracle costing information has financial integrity and is maintained at a
high level of accuracy.
1.7. Acts as a change agent.
- Leads the accounting work at the manufacturing site.
2.1. Performs month-end closing of the manufacturing activity.
2.2. Communicates financial information & variance analysis in a clear and concise
manner to operational staff and corporate finance.
2.3. Compiles and analyzes various KPIs and manufacturing variances to identify
opportunities for improvement.
2.4. Helps champion continuous process improvement and simplification to improve
operating processes such as assisting with fixed flow paths and development of
productivity tools (EvA hours, PPLH).
2.5 Track project capital & expense spend and compare to budget.
- Leads the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts for the manufacturing location.
3.1. Establishes an efficient and effective budget process for the manufacturing
3.2 Coordinates the capital spending request for budget and forecast process.
3.3. Coordinates the completion and analysis of forecasts and budgets.
3.4. Analyzes trends in the business for the use in budgeting and forecasting.
3.5. Effectively works with various manufacturing departments to meet company
- Safeguards company assets. Maintains accurate accounting records and policies to provide financial reporting, tax reporting, and accounting analysis on a timely basis.
4.1. Maintains monthly account reconciliations.
4.2. Maintains accurate property records for financial and tax reporting purposes to
ensure control over such assets remains with the company.
- Support Corporate finance & accounting
5.1. Support Corporate treasury function
5.2. Standardize A/P across plants including Germany
5.3. Expand use of Power BI to integrate plant reporting, capacity utilization,
productivity measurements and corporate accounting.
5.4. Train plant users in Power BI
Operations Finance Controller Qualifications:
Requires a BA, preferably in finance or accounting.
5+ years of progressive responsibility in the field of accounting and finance, experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems preferred.
Ability to travel up to 10%
Must have legal authorization to work in the United States. Relocation allowance may be provided if the individual has all of the necessary qualifications.
