Portland State University's Facilities and Property Management department is hiring a Painter to join the In-House Construction team.

This painter will join our In-House Construction team of electricians, carpenters, painters and other skilled trades people who execute all commercial renovation projects on campus, ranging in size from painting a room, to remodeling offices, classrooms, and labs. Primary duties include:

* using tools such as utility and taping knives, vacuum cleaner, mixing drills, brushes & rollers, ladders, sanders, and occasionally spray equipment;
* preparing the site by applying primer, mud and tape in preparation for paint;
* texturing when matching an existing paint finish;
* completing projects to level a 4 and/or 5 standard smooth finish;
* applying varnish and other finishes to cabinets and other furniture;
* cleaning and organizing the shop;
* using databases for work order requests and paint archive records; and
* driving PSU-owned vehicles to purchase supplies and to work sites located both on and off campus.

Successful candidates will have excellent customer service skills and the ability to work safely in the presence of the public while maintaining a professional demeanor as well as a safe, orderly and clean worksite.

Facilities and Property Management (FPM) comprises approximately 80 full time and 60 student employees who work together to maintain over 5 million square feet in downtown Portland, and this team is a key element in the department.
