Position Summary:

Preserves residents' dignity of life, provides personal care and safety needs of residents, supervises assisted living staff, delegates work assignments, informs new employees of company regulations, maintains a safe and secure environment for residents' peace of mind, and assumes change of functions when Director of Wellness is absent.

Qualifications:

* Must be certified as a licensed practical nurse by the State of Florida,


* Must have all other certifications required by local and state regulations.


* Must have a minimum of three years previous experience in a supervisory capacity in a similar environment.


* Must have the ability to plan and implement Personal Care programs and policies and must have the ability to work with and communicate with management, associates, and subordinates.


* Must be dependable and honest.


* Must possess current CPR certification.



Job Relations:

Reports to: Director of Wellness Supervises: Resident Assistants

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for advising personal care staff. Instills in employees the spirit of common courtesy and hospitality towards residents and fellow workers. Ensures that all operations are carried out within the established system and that company procedures are followed.

Supervises and directs activities of the Resident Assistants including activities of daily living, personal supervision, participation in social and leisure activities, and the provision of companionship and emotional support to residents.

Ensures that all staff is properly uniformed to meet the required dress standards for Assisted Living Resident Services.

Supervises and assumes responsibility for assigned administration of medications, maintains legal documentation of the administration of medications, notifies pharmacies or family members one week before residents' medication needs refilling or replacement.

Supervises and provides care of residents who are ill: reports and documents unusual incidents to the Director immediately; notifies family, physicians, emergency personnel, and Director when necessary. Must be able and willing to assess and assist with residents who have fallen.

Assures that telephones are answered politely at all times. Understands fire alarm system, sprinkler cut-off system, and emergency call system. Must be able to respond appropriately and contact on-call maintenance as necessary.

Supervises locking of exterior doors and door security systems when necessary.

Operates Assisted Living units In accordance with all local and state regulations and maintains standards of health, sanitation, and safety.

Observes, monitors, and maintains records of resident health. Monitors ambient air temperature and adjusts thermostats for residents' comfort and safety.

Renders first aid to residents and staff when necessary.

Completes assigned probationary and annual employee performance evaluations as required by Human Resources.

Performs any and all functions of Personal Care as needed and performs any other duties comparable to those stated above or as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Special Demands/Physical Requirements:

Position frequently requires medium to heavy lifting. Normally, such lifting will include, but is not limited to, assisting with transfer/repositioning of the resident This position is also mentally demanding because of the continual need of assessing and evaluating certain clinical aspects of the patient's care.

The position does require the mental ability to analyze data, covert data to useful information develop and present briefings and Interact successfully with a diverse number of individuals.
