About the School Emmanuel Christian Community School is a co-educational school that cares for more than 700 students in K-12. The School was established in 1982 and is in Perth’s northern suburbs. Emmanuel Christian Community School is seeking to hire a Business Manager responsible for the leadership and effective operation of the Business and Finance Department of the School.

Position Summary

Collaborating with and reporting to the Principal, the Business Manager is responsible for leading the business operations of the School including Financial Management, Procurement, Site Infrastructure, Marketing, Governance and Compliance, Risk Management and Office Administration.

The Business Manager will be a professional colleague who will be part of a team of administrators striving to achieve the aims and objectives of the School. Main responsibilities

Leadership of the Finance functions including Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

Overseeing all financial planning and analysis

Preparing reports for management and Board sub committees, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements

Recommending changes in policies or procedures that will improve financial performance

Forecasting future financial performance

Financial modelling and benchmarking

Preparing and analysing budgets

Tracking, reporting, and analysing budget variances

Ensuring compliance with government and industry regulations

Management of the audit and review of the company’s financial statements

Management accounting

Cash and borrowings management

Maintenance of department and internal control procedure manuals

Implementing relevant systems and technologies to drive efficiency


Person specification

Professional qualifications/experience in Accounting, Commerce or Business Management

Selection Criteria:

Significant professional accounting experience, including recent experience in a similar level role within an education environment.

Demonstrated professional experience in financial modelling, scenario, and sensitivity analysis

Demonstrated ability to motivate, encourage and direct the efforts of others towards the completion of plans and achievement of determined objectives

Demonstrated capability in leading and managing an operational team and a practical understanding of contemporary people management practices

Highly effective interpersonal and communications skills, including highly developed written skills and the ability to form effective working relationships

Highly developed skills in business management, process development and implementation

Ability to adapt to change and lead change

Advanced computer software skills including Excel and accounting packages

A keen eye for detail

An analytical mind
