Crux Biolabs is a Contract Immunology Service Provider in Bayswater, in Melbourne’s east, accredited to ISO 17025 to process clinical trial samples for PBMC, flow cytometry, ELISA & Luminex. Our expert immunologists provide bespoke, reliable & timely immunology lab services for clinical trials and pre-clinical R&D studies, and we get to work with some of Australia’s most exciting and innovative pharma start-ups.
To support our rapid growth, we are recruiting for a Scientific Proposals Co-Ordinator. This is an exciting, new role for a qualified individual who can combine technical competency and commercial acumen in a fast-paced environment. This role requires you to utilise high level scientific skills to scope and assess new opportunities for Crux’s contract research team; including scientific review of literature, clinical trial protocols and sponsors’ methodologies and reagent sourcing in order to develop cost-based proposals.
Reporting directly to the CEO, but also working closely with the COO and Senior Scientists, your role will be to develop and create Work Order Proposals for our clients. Being able to interpret a long and complex clinical trial protocol into a Work Order Proposal in a timely manner for the Crux lab team to execute, and the client to sign, is the critical task for this role. There will always be multiple proposals at different stages of revision and execution, so being able to multi-task is critical. To be successful, you will need to have strong technical understanding of immunology techniques, be highly organized, and have excellent communication and social skills for engaging with clients as well as the Crux team, so everyone is aligned. The successful candidate may transition to a Business Development role, if they are interested in taking more of a lead growing Crux’s network of clients and associated sales targets in the future.
Interpreting clinical protocols and identifying appropriate methods for a client study
Providing quotes and contracts to secure new business
Liaising with key stakeholders to ensure agreements, quotations and work orders are aligned and finalised
General support for the CEO's business development activities
About the candidate
Experience communicating effectively with clients and colleagues, including scientists and senior management
Excellent oral and written communications skills including the ability to prepare reports and proposals, with proven skills in formatting and editing Word documents as well as an understanding of functions in Excel
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to set priorities, analyse problems, formulate clear and effective solutions and co-ordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
Demonstrated ability to take initiative in problem solving and in exercising judgement
Experience with preparing cost-based quotations or proposals is highly desirable
Knowledge of clinical trials and pre-clinical R&D is highly desirable
Key Selection Criteria
Degree in biology, PhD strongly preferred.
Strong technical expertise in the immunology techniques that Crux offers. Ability to simply explain these complex techniques to a range of stakeholders.
Commercial sales acumen, including an understanding of the factors involved in pricing, such as gross margin, net profit, return on investment etc. Any customer-facing experience, including retail, is worth noting.
Excellent communication skills and an ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues. You are a “people-person” and a good questioner, adept at identifying the unmet needs of clients, as well as gathering information from the lab team, so everyone can work together on long and complex studies.
We are a flexible workplace and would consider this role to be appropriate for 0.6-1.0 FTE. You must have full Australian working rights to be considered.
