Position Summary
The Opportunity 

We are seeking a Cultural Coordinator to establish, promote, develop and extend the cultural capacity and capability of the UnitingCare Early Childhood (also known as Early Childhood Early Intervention – ECEI) to deliver services, programs and projects which are accessible, inclusive, have relevance and are culturally appropriate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. 

Under the leadership and guidance of the Statewide Manager and working in collaboration with Service Managers across QLD, the Cultural Coordinator will ensure that staff from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds are appropriately recruited, inducted, oriented and supported in the ECEI service delivery and practice for the programs. 

This role is being offered to applicants seeking full-time employment and will be offered on a 12 month maximum term basis, with extension beyond this date to be determined. 

This position has been identified - it is an occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person as permitted and arguable under Section 25 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991. 

What you'll need 
Tertiary Qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Community Development, Community Services etc) and experience with social inclusion.
Demonstrated knowledge of Cultural practices/protocol/engagement and barriers.
Proven ability to induct, orientate and support staff in a culturally safe and sensitive way.
Demonstrated experience in working with Culturally diverse communities including ATSI communities is preferred.
Knowledge and experience in Early Childhood will be an advantage.
Current Drivers Licence - presentation of a current Drivers Licence must be made before your appointment to the position can be confirmed. Ability to use a private vehicle and manage tax reimbursements.
All adults who work with people under 18 years and with a disability in QLD are required to undergo a “Working with Children Check” under the screening provisions of the Commission for Children and Young People Act (2000) and NDIS Worker Screening and obtain a Suitability Card (Blue Card). Employment is conditional upon presentation of a current Suitability Card.
