The position of Research Analyst is one of high responsibility and accountability.
The Key Deliverables for this role:
Data output – credible and consistent base data, market shares, and forecasts
Written reports – text to support data and to provide customers with clear market guidance on outlook, trends, supplier landscape, and tech impact
Thought leadership pieces – be a key player within the team to support the evolvement of capabilities
New research ideas/topics presented to the manager
Custom - Supporting role in customer-specific projects
Other key responsibilities include:
Scoping – responsible for scoping out each deliverable that you are the ‘Person In Charge’ for. Including updating relevant documentation and leading kick-off as well as subsequent calls. Documenting and implementing best practices for the ‘Person In Charge’ role and responsibilities.
Thought leadership – develop a subject matter expertise in a research area and become to point of contact for this research area. Mentor junior researchers to improve and build capabilities to support the evolvement of overall team capabilities.
Successful, on-time delivery of high-quality, highly relevant, and differentiated research projects that provide essential elements for syndicated research projects across sectors.
Successful, on-time execution of research projects that are essential components of consulting engagements, delivered to client specifications and quality expectations.
Responsible for delivering primary research and secondary research tasks. Building base data – using primary and secondary research to build credible base data. Ensuring sufficient coverage of market players; creating estimates where company reporting is not available; utilizing history; ensuring consistency with related data/markets; logging all assumptions and working in a clear way.
Forecasting – Using primary and secondary research to generate market projections; using credible sources to support forecasts; logging all assumptions and working in a clear way; creating the story around market development/opportunities/risks.
Partnering with Manager on the continuing evolution and refinement of business/operational processes to optimize quality, timeliness, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of research execution and delivery. Continuous measurement of key KPIs in each area.
Key Internal Relationships:
Members of Research sectors, including colleagues in Content Operations for coordination, planning, execution, and support of syndicated research deliverables
Consulting leads across sectors to facilitate the successful execution of consulting engagements according to client expectations
Product Management colleagues across sectors to provide research support for the planning, launch, and execution of impactful, differentiated high-quality research products
Marketing team – support content generation and initiatives to raise the profile of individuals, research, Omdia, and Informa tech
Data team – working together to create supplier questionnaires, DBs, and forecast tools to drive research efficiency, consistency, and quality
Leadership team – proactively communicate new ideas and feedback around process, operations, research, etc. to support continual improvement

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Comfortable using the phone for outreach and developing relationships
Excel – solid grasp of Excel for data building, data manipulation, and pivot table creation
Experience working collaboratively towards a common goal
Ability to think outside the box in approaching problems to find innovative solutions
Prioritizing time for competing tasks
Writing detailed reports in a structured and concise way
Ability to conduct primary and secondary research
KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of research area, vendor landscape, products/technology
Primary research interview and data gathering skills
Multitasking – ability to prioritize competing tasks effectively
Excel database and pivot table expertise; data aggregation and analysis
Ability to piece together data from multiple sources and connect the dots
Use assumptions and logical thinking to create estimates and forecast
Planning and executing written reports to capture key research highlights
Ability to work independently and as a team
