We are seeking appropriately qualified and experienced Personal Care Attendants (PCA) to assist our nursing staff in caring for patients on our 4th Floor Ward (Orthopaedic / Neurology / Paediatric).
Working under the direction and supervision of our nursing staff, this role will assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) prior to and post surgery or treatment in our Hospital. You will support patients with activities such as showering, mobilising and meals as well as providing extra support to individual patients who may require continuous care.
We are seeking candidates interested in building or continuing a successful career as a Personal Carer with appropriate qualifications and experience. We are open to candidates wishing to continue their work within the acute care sector or move into this field.
This is permanent part-time; up to 40 hours a fortnight across 7 days of the week, including late and night shifts. Hours will be negotiated with the successful candidates and rostered in advance.
To apply for this position candidates must possess a Certificate III in Health Service Assistance or Individual Support (Aging) or similar qualification, together with sound experience in personal carer positions and a desire to build a career in this field.
Experience and/or qualifications in the palliative care would be highly desirable.
In addition, candidates will need to demonstrate:
Excellent interpersonal skills with a naturally caring disposition
Experience working within a busy team environment
Sound organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
A person centred approach and commitment to the rights of the elderly and people with a disability to live dignified lives
Candidates will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment to ensure they meet the physical requirements for this position. Candidates will need to provide a Working With Children Check prior to commencement.
