Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, Northrop’s busy Newcastle office are looking for a Hydraulic Engineer to join the team.
You will be part of a close team of people that are dedicated to the delivery of good service and technical excellence. Key components of this role include, but are not limited to:
Project delivery of hydraulic building services projects, heavily involved in a wide range of projects including commercial buildings, residential developments, fit-out, health care, aged care and educational facilities.
The opportunity to deliver multiple challenging projects concurrently, including multi-disciplinary projects.
Working closely with a diverse client base, responding efficiently to client's needs, including attendance at meetings and inspections.
With projects ranging from large commercial to public and private buildings, our team is involved in wide-ranging projects, including some of the largest private and public hospital works in NSW.

We are looking for someone who wants to build on their experience with the support of Northrop’s well-established management team and exposure to varied projects. This is a medium experienced role therefore would suit someone who is looking to take control of their career and progress with the Hydraulics and Fire space.
3-5 years of proven experience as a consulting Hydraulics engineer in the Australian market.
Relevant Tertiary qualifications, i.e. currently enrolled in or have completed the Diploma of Hydraulic Services Design. FPAS accreditation in Fire Systems Design would also be an advantage.
Previous exposure to aged care / fit-out / education / mixed-use / commercial projects.
A comprehensive understanding of: BCA and relevant Australian Standards. Council and water authority approval requirements. Fire hydrant, sprinkler and hose reel Australian Standards.
Knowledge of H2X, Hyena and other design tools will be considered favourably.
Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with other stakeholders on the project.
Understanding and appreciation of BIM and REVIT.
Strong communication skills; able to speak and write clearly and concisely.
Creative problem-solving skills to continually finds ways to overcome challenges and obstacles.
Practical knowledge and understanding to be able to work a design through to completion that has considered co-ordination with other services, structure, and architectural requirements as well as the buildability aspects so that the hydraulic/plumbing contractor can understand and construct the designed works.
Highly productive with both strong team ethics and the ability to work independently.
