Job Description:
Our client is a global leading supplier in equipment and tools, parts, service and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries who is seeking a Head of Regional Sourcing - Southern Africa to join their team. The purpose of the role is to strategically lead the procurement of indirect and direct components and services e, ity and specification, and within the agreed lead times to support business operations, local production and sales organization.
The incumbent will be reporting to the Vice President Sales / Managing Director.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement the regional sourcing strategy for the Sales Area Participate in the Group sustainability supply management strategy and align to the local regional plan in accordance with local legislation; and monitor the implementation of the localised strategy.
Collaborate with supply organisations of each division to benchmark costs on a global level and provide strategic input as to the best locations for supply.
Ensure maximum results in respect of BBBEE.
Conduct regular research and benchmarking to identify improvements in local sourcing practices.
Sourcing Management:
Lead sourcing related activities to deliver the timely, quality and cost competitive supply of components and services to the unit.
Represent sourcing, as member of the unit management team, in the alignment and collaboration with Production Unit management and key stakeholders.
Lead the divisional and sales area stakeholder relationships to create more sourcing projects and opportunities.
Lead or participate in negotiations with global suppliers and ensure local products are aligned locally to benefit from the best possible bundle pricing.
Drive and/or support synergy across Production Units globally i.e. global benchmarking.
Lead supplier relationship management and attend to critical issues that have been escalated.
Lead or oversee regional and global supplier negotiations, selection, contracts, management and compliance based on the companys strategic sourcing process (BASE) and ensure alignment with category management.
Develop and drive the implementation of Production Unit supplier development and risk management processes.
Monitor compliance and adherence to the company's sourcing policies and procedures.
Budget Management:
Determine and compile budget forecast for submission to the Vice President for approval.
Monitor and control budget, producing monthly budget review reports.
Identify cost saving initiatives to measure the balance sheet.
Compliance:
Comply with safety regulations and internal standards and procedures.
Comply with applicable legislation i.e., Section 21 of Mine, Health & Safety Act.
Monitor compliance of team members to safety regulations, applicable legislation and internal standards and procedures.
Oversee legal compliance of suppliers for the Supplier Management Programme and Supplier
Onboarding Programme, to ensure suppliers are credible and compliant.
People Management:
Manage performance of subordinates through the development of performance agreements and conducting performance reviews.
Create learning opportunities for subordinates through the identification of areas for development, coaching and recommending formal functional training when required.
Implement talent management and succession planning frameworks.
Manage sound employee relations in accordance with HR policy and procedures
Requirements:
Qualification and Skill National Diploma in Business or Commerce (NQF Level 6)10 years of experience in sourcing and supply chain, of which 5 years is at a management level.
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19
Demonstrated track record of large and complex sourcing projects.
Experience in negotiations l with global suppliers.
Experience with in a heavy industry/mining environment.
Experience with working in a global and matrix environment.
Commercial experience in a heavy manufacturing role with a high level of engagement
