Research Analyst (Tableau) Behavioral Health Policy & Planning

DMA Health Strategies (DMA) is a small, nationally recognized behavioral health policy and planning member-owned consulting firm. We seek a Research Analyst who is skilled in managing multi-faceted projects, detail-oriented, organized, and possesses excellent communication, writing, computer, and analysis skills. Individuals must be able to work independently while staying coordinated with the team for each project.  Working in teams is essential to DMA’s success. Responsibilities include:

Data Analysis and Visualization 

  • Develop and implement analysis plans, maintaining detailed documentation.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data, utilizing Excel, Tableau, NVivo and other statistical software.
  • Create data visualizations (charts, maps, tables, etc.) PowerPoint slides, and interactive dashboards.
  • Use Pivot Tables and advanced excel functions to summarize data.
  • Summarize data in narrative, tabular, and graphic formats for presentations and reports.

Data Collection and Management

  • Acquire data from multiple data sources including databases, public sources, and surveys.
  • Formulate data requests.
  • Combine data from various sources and clean and systematically prep for analysis.
  • Monitor data collection, create and manage data collection tracking sheets.
  • Contribute to survey design and implementation.


  • Write analysis summaries and key takeaways for presentations.
  • Present findings to internal teams, clients, and identified stakeholders.
  • Combine data from various sources and clean and systematically prep for analysis.
  • Contribute to draft and revised program and progress reports, funding proposals, and other documents as needed.


  • Other data collection, analysis and management support as needed.
  • Project management tasks as assigned which may include coordination of project activities; prepare project timelines, meeting agendas and notes; assist in facilitating internal and client meeting.
  • Assist with business development and marketing, including proposals, website development, and social media.
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality.

This position will give the employee broad exposure to behavioral health policy, programs, and management. We are closely involved in assisting our clients with planning and implementing new forms of organization and service delivery, such as responding to the opioid crisis, addressing health inequities and social determinants, and crisis response during the COVID pandemic.

Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Tableau, NVivo or equivalent qualitative data analysis platforms, and statistical software (i.e., SPSS, STATA, SYSTAT, or similar). Experience with focus groups, interviews, Google Data Studio, Google Analytics, MailChimp, SurveyMonkey and Access a plus. Master’s degree (preferred) and/or 3-5 years of relevant professional experience required.  Applicants who do not meet some of the qualifications but are excited by this position are encouraged to apply.
