Temporary Payroll Administrator

Looking to make your mark in a commercially driven, local charity?

You will join this newly created role as the latest Temporary Payroll Clerk. This exciting opportunity will give you the chance to carve out new processes, systems and relationships from a payroll perspective. You will need to be ready to get hands-on, delivering a payroll of circa 360 employees each month in this multi pension organization and bring a focus around process improvement.

Developing key stakeholder relationships will see you deliver an efficient process leading to opportunity to grow and develop your career into a broader position within finance/HR.

Please note, this is a temporary position paid on a weekly PAYE basis. This full-time role will start immediately, so sadly candidates with a lengthy notice period cannot be considered.

Temporary Payroll Clerk Responsibilities

Working closely with the CFO, the HR and Finance teams, you will focus on the delivery of monthly payroll, year-end including SSP/SMP, overtime, multiple pension schemes and ultimately take ownership of the payroll function whilst looking for areas of continuous improvement. Alongside this you will:

  • Process Monthly end to end payroll for 3 branches, circa 360 employees ensuring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Challenge the systems and processes suggesting areas of improvement
  • Support the CFO with completion of month end and year end audit checks, ensuring adherence to relevant deadlines
  • Monitor and process SSP/SMP/SPP
  • Process a full range of payroll adjustments (and ‘acting up’)
  • Manage pension contributions and pension returns (including LGPS)
  • Keep auditable records of all payroll data, whilst ensuring the highest level of data protection compliance

Temporary Payroll Clerk Experience

  • Experience of owning a complex payroll process end-to-end
  • Beneficial to have previous exposure to multiple pension schemes within single organisation
  • Evidence of leading and highlighting areas of process improvement
  • Good Excel skills and previous use of Sage Payroll, Excel and Access DB would be beneficial
  • CIPP/CIPD qualified or studying towards would be beneficial
