Transformation Leader – Oil & Gas

This role serves as a transformation lead for a large scale Oil and Gas customer in Fuels. You will engage closely with the Global Transformation Lead, client’s leadership and the HCL Service Delivery Leadership to define and execute the transformational strategies to achieve desired outcomes across fuels value chain. You will work closely with HCL and Customer leadership and process owners to understand the business drivers, objectives and scope of improvement. You will be responsible to build comprehensive integrated transformation plans, work with operations to design and drive value enablement. You will be focused on pushing forward innovation and transformation within the operations organization and drive establishing of next gen operating models. This position is expected to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented work environment and upholds HCL core values.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Partner with respective process owners and client leadership to develop the opportunity pipeline to drive improvement initiatives within the space
  • Bring strategic partnership to drive continual improvements via process re-engineering and automation
  • Recommend and implement business process improvement initiatives and knowledge collaboration to enhance end customer experience, operational effectiveness or cost profile
  • Provide clear leadership for the technology function, embedding a culture which is business focused and innovate, committed to transformation; encourage collaboration and willingness to look at new solutions and approaches
  • Project integration management for Delivery Processes and Technology Teams in delivering systemic enhancements, technology interventions and automation
  • Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders, business and technology teams in executing project plans, oversee development of key performance metrics, deployment of reporting dashboards and periodic presentations for leadership team
  • Lead cross-functional change programs and provide subject matter expertise and industry best practices related to global business transformation, engagement model and functional areas
  • Facilitate end to end approach for development of key transformation projects in partnership with internal/external key stakeholders
  • Own and drive large growth and transformation opportunities, bring in industry framework and best practices tailored for customers
  • Provide proactive solutions to customer/end-customer to enhance customer experience
  • Engage in constant communication with key stakeholders to identify and implement solutions, find and adopt best practices and ensure harmonious relationships
  • Design, own and deliver transformation projects and act as strategic advisor to the product leadership team
  • Embed strong project management principles and practice, ensuring that key milestones are met, risks identified and the project delivers the service outcomes and savings identified
  • Own and Drive the development and implementation of the business transition plan to achieve future state stability, whilst minimizing risk to current operations and commercial objectives
  • Conduct strategic/exploratory workshops to identify and execute robust roadmaps supporting the global services business
  • Implement, Manage and Drive Business Outcomes through Digital Transformation Journey
  • Create Journey plan in conjunction with delivery teams globally for continuous improvement

Key Deliverables

  • Drive Customer Experience (CX) transformation though technology and non-technology initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to increase the impact of shared services through standardize coverage across geographies and lines of business
  • Improve service level metrics through design and implementation of efficient procedures, processes and associated systems/applications
  • Provide industry insights and best practice in Oil and Gas to internal team to drive GTM to further HCL brand and growth

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong downstream oil industry expertise in Fuels space having in-depth knowledge of supply chain management, plant operations, terminal management, order to cash process management
  • Extensive knowledge of Lubes and Fuels value chains operations/concepts, best practices, refinery products, terminal and haulier operations, oil and gas back office operations and familiar with competitive technologies
  • Well versed in commercial, regulatory, process and financial aspects of oil and gas
  • Hands on experience facilitating application integration, platform migration and strong working knowledge of emerging technologies and digital tools (RPA, AI/ML driven solutions e.g. HighRadius, Billtrust etc.)
  • Extensive experience within Oil and Gas Operations with a strong understanding of the inter-relationships between functions including leading transformation / functional excellence in Oil and Gas domain
  • Manage and Present HCL’s Digital transformation initiatives with customers
  • Strategic thinking, strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal / written communication skills to communicate compelling messages
  • Change maker, with Strong execution ability and ability inspire and train teams for Transformation mind-set, framework and tools
  • Digitally savvy with good understanding of emerging technology solutions in Oil and Gas industry
  • Strong skills in the areas of business turnaround, value creation, customer management, leading/integrating global teams
  • Ability to “think out of the box” and manage “problems” proactively

Qualification & Experience

  • MBA/ PGDM with at least 20 years of experience in managing Digital/Non-Digital innovation and transformation projects in Oil and gas domain with experience in Fuel sub domain
  • Experience of executing process transformation initiatives or delivering enterprise systems
  • In-depth understanding of Oil and Gas industry leading practices
  • Formal continuous improvement training (e.g. LEAN / Six Sigma) desirable
  • Stakeholder management experience with ability to influence & persuade key stakeholders and to constructively deal with conflicts
