What you will be doing
Help build great education software
Be both a hands-on UX designer PLUS manage and mentor other experienced designers.
Partner with UX design and development to envision and execute on new and improved user experiences through wireframes, clickable prototypes, and code samples.
Consistently consider the holistic UI interaction experience, all potential states (errors, success, dead-ends)
Works closely with developers and designers within a product to ensure a unified experience.
Demonstrate an understanding of our defined design process in applying that process to their work, moving fluidly between each stage as needed. Uses the design process to contextualize their work and the type of feedback they need in a given moment. Anticipates problems and adapts the process to their needs.
Demonstrate knowledge of users for primary product.
Apply design and accessibility standards and process in everyday work and work with Manager / Lead / Principal Designers for compliance.
Implement best practices in interaction design.
Work with your delivery team alongside your design and engineering counterparts. Contribute your expertise to the team's roadmap and goals by provide input from a UI perspective, and ensure they're pursuing achievable, measurable and impactful goals.
Be familiar with product goals and be able to explain how their work relates to the broader product vision.
Demonstrate proficiency of interaction design and visual design.
Realize functional, usable, accessible user interfaces.
Actively participate in design sessions.
Share work early and often and encourages your peers to seek out constructive feedback from their manager, the design team, and delivery team.
Actively participate and share work at design critiques.
Continually seek to improve your skills in human-computer interaction and software design.
Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, whether in one-on-one or group situations. Communicate ideas/concepts, goals and problems in a way that is accessible even to those unfamiliar with the project. Communicates rationale to partners.
Who we’re looking for
Degree in UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science or another relevant degree
10+ years’ experience in designing UX/UI for software
Ability and excitement in doing hands on Design.
Experience and ability to manage a team of top notch designers
Familiarity with HTML/CSS.
Proficiency in Sketch
Basic understanding of software development principles
Demonstrated problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to company-specific tools for configuration and deployment
Basic understanding of the business and development impact of design changes
