-The role is responsible for ensuring effective sourcing support to business teams in India – ensuring that Pearson maximizes value and minimizes risk. The role will oversee all sub-categories in the indirect and direct spend area, manage the procurement process end to end, develop a healthy and robust preferred supplier base and deliver savings in collaboration with key stakeholders.
Job Duties:
1. Initiate and implement India category sourcing strategies
- Develop mid- to long- term category sourcing strategies for key spend areas (including Marketing, Technology, Facility and Print) based on data analytics, market analysis and supplier insights
- Implement sourcing strategies in line with business goals and increase internal stakeholder satisfaction
- Establish a preferred supplier programme for each subcategory and collaborate with stakeholders to maximize utilization
- Foster collaboration and ensure effective communication with key stakeholders to ensure alignment on key sourcing initiatives
2. Deliver savings on key sourcing projects
- Carry out high impact sourcing projects that help business deliver their goals and achieve sourcing savings through optimal sourcing strategies
- Lead the sourcing process by managing the end-to-end vendor selection process to deliver overall commercial and contractual benefits
- Ensure procurement is executed with transparency and in keeping with policies
3. Promote procurement compliance and support buying efficiency.
- Communicate and educate business stakeholders on Procurement policies and processes
- Provide consultation, guidance, tools, templates to enable business to self-serve certain products and services
- Optimize procurement processes and tools to support a streamlined and efficient buying experience for users
- Drive efficiency through vendor performance reviews, process simplification and spend management
4. Strategic supplier management.
- Regularly review supplier base and seek opportunities for optimization and consolidation
- Promote strategic relationship management with key suppliers, monitor and management performance of vendors with regular review, assessment and/or surveys
- Promote innovation through supplier and market insights
5. Other Duties
- Track and report key procurement KPIs
- Work closely with Global Procurement team to support local implementation of global strategies and align initiatives where applicable
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Minimum 8 years of sourcing experience, preferably in a large scale MNC.
- In-depth experience in category sourcing and indirect procurement knowledge is a must.
- Strong commercial and contractual skills
- Good relationship management skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders at Director level is essential
- Proven experience in managing suppliers through strategic relationship building
