Guidance Design Engineer

Purpose of Role : Research, develop and implement guidance algorithms for precise orbital injection for Vikram series of launch vehicles.


Developing robust closed loop guidance algorithms for different stages of the launch vehicle and implementing it in 3/6 DOF.
Selection of flight constants and guidance parameters.
Performing sensitivity studies and Monte Carlo analysis to characterize performance of various guidance schemes.
Defining a contingency plan to switch over to mission salvage.
Validation of guidance algorithm in the onboard computers leading to real time simulations. Knowledge of OILS and HILS is preferable.
Documenting the proposed guidance solutions and participating in design reviews.

Skills required

Technical Skills ( In order of Priority )

Strong understanding of flight dynamics and orbital mechanics, modelling-simulation and software development.
A strong affinity towards mathematical modelling is essential.
Capable of solving complex problems under minimal supervision as an individual or as a member of integrated team.
Exposure to optimization methods is desirable.
Flair for high-level language like C/C++ etc. is essential along with good knowledge of Matlab/Simulink.



Master’s degree in Aerospace engineering (or equivalent).


Research paper published in journal/conference.
Previous experience in similar domain.
