Role Overview

The Senior Consultant Solar PV Performance will be delivering all aspects of solar resource and solar energy assessment services across our global consultancy business. This will include working on pre-construction and operational solar assets for major clients such as International Finance Institutions and major developers and investors.

Responsibilities

Technical Analysis

Undertaking pre-construction solar PV resource and energy yield analyses including detailed review of irradiation data, PV system and loss / uncertainty analysis
Assisting in the development, implementation and management of data collection systems
Understanding of RINAs technical analysis approaches
Detailed analysis of operational SCADA data, interpretation of data streams, assessment of performance trends over time and recommendation of performance optimisationtechniques
Responsible for improving methodologies where possible
Checking work of more junior staff and training responsibilities.

Technical knowledge, development and research

Ensuring the continued improvement of internal processes and research to maintain our industry leading position in the field
Work with other members of the team and lead through discrete research or development projects ensuring robustness in approach and suitability of any goals
Develop, test and deliver new solutions to our clients, and be ahead of industry best practice with a solution focussed attitude

Project Management and Quality Assurance

Assisting in the management of individual projects and portfolios ranging from kW to multi GW in size across the UK and our worldwide offices
Ensuring the delivery of solar resource and energy yield related services is on time and budget, to a very high standard and ensuring client satisfaction
Responsible for delivering pipeline of work using the most appropriate resources available
Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis
Track and report performance of projects
Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients and teams
Expected to use effective communication within the project team to ensure delivery of the project

Client & Customer management, business development

Assist scope discussions, proposal drafting and negotiations with key clients including International Finance Institutions, developers, Lenders
Work as part of a team to identify and secure new clients and opportunities to grow our global experience
Build and maintain existing client relationships through delivery of high quality analyses, reports and discussions
Attend client meetings and present RINAs approaches or results competently
Attend industry conferences with active participation (presentations, posters, etc)


Requirements
  • Hold a minimum of a Bachelor degree in Engineering / Physics / Maths / Meteorology / Renewable Energy and 3+ years of experience in the solar PV industry
  • Proven experience demonstrating a strong understanding of leading solar PV technology
  • Track record in solar PV energy resource analysis
  • Working experience delivering analyses with PVsyst
  • Experience with one or more of: NREL Radiance, SAM, Plant Predict, PVLib
  • Experience in operational performance analysis or optimisation of solar assets
  • Appreciation of the economics of solar energy development
  • Practical knowledge of how solar assets are developed, constructed and operated
  • Fluency in English with excellent report writing skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of statistical methods to evaluate data and uncertainty
  • Programming skills (VBA, Python, R, etc) would be beneficial
  • Cross disciplinary analysis skills would be advantageous (i.e. wind, storage, etc)
