As Transport Manager you will be accountable for the day-to-day management and engagement of our Clients Commercial Goods Driver and Transport Administration Teams, ensuring deliveries, collections & storage activities are made safely, cost-effectively and in accordance with customer service level agreements.
You will champion World Class Customer Experience through customer knowledge & understanding, as well as knowing the full range of packaging products and fulfilment services.
The role of Transport Manager will be split between Hyde and another distribution centre in Southam, Warwickshire.
Duties & accountabilities of the role:
Responsible for a Team of 12 and growing Commercial Goods Drivers and 5 Planning Administrators based across Manchester and Warwickshire.
Overseeing and working closely with our Systems & Compliance Coordinator to ensure legislation, including health & safety, compliance and Companys Goods Vehicle Operating Licence are complied with.
Develop and initiate improvements to work processes, methods of working, aim at continuously
improving efficiency and service levels and working conditions.
Overseeing all delivery and collection routes.
Leading communications, engagement and growing connections with the Driver and wider Teams within the Business.
Managing Purpose & Values high performance led culture and working with the Companys planning and performance tools.
Setting and implementing critical departmental priorities, Goals and objectives for the Transport Discipline, linked to 3 Year Plan.
With the Head of CX understand the importance of Drivers in a Customer facing role and provide an enhanced Customer Experience.
Responsible for training, implementation and compliance relating to all Driver Health and Safety policies and procedures, both statutory and in house.
Identifying and implement working methods, models and practices to optimise fleet management, and allows measurement of financial and environmental impact of those services against profit and loss.
Accountable for driver hours and legal compliance in accordance with tachograph legislation and working time directive.
Reporting and administration of all transport colleagues holidays/sickness
Provide daily, weekly, monthly accurate reports and statistical information for internal departments relating to the day to day/week to week/month to month running of the Transport Operation.
To work closely with colleagues in exploiting backloading opportunities to gain revenues.
To be successful, you will need:
Exceptional customer and commercial focus, with the ability to continuously review performance and professionally deliver and exceed customer expectations.
Provide creative, flexible and consistent leadership to develop and support the Transport Team.
A proven track record of building relationships with drivers with a high level of engagement and communication.
5+ years experience running a commercial fleet.
Able to travel between Manchester and Warwickshire (company car provided).
Skilled and competent in various software packages.
Delivery planning system / 3rd party logistics system experience.
Awareness of warehouse management systems.
What you can expect ?
Starting salary between £38,000 and £45,000 per annum (based on experience).
