Technical Field Advisor - Generator
Job Description Summary
The Steam Power Service (SP) within Steam Power Region India footprint and is responsible for growth of Market Share (SAS), backlog & profitability in aftersales market of Steam Plants.
The SP-Geno portfolio within SP is in charge of strategy definition, implementation and business results for various generator platforms covering both OEM & several oOEM fleets in Region India.
The TFA, is a key role in the SP-Geno Team where you will have significant opportunity to demonstrate your strategic, creative problem-solving, technical, communication and process skills in a complex, global and fast-paced environment.
Candidate will be accountable for successful execution of the SPS-Geno project assigned to him. He/she will have to work with cross-functional resources/teams to deliver results, lead long-term planning for the successful site execution of the project, manage complex issues including dimensional measurement of the parts & developing hand sketch to support the Engg.
Candidate will report to the SP-Geno Field Service Head within SP in Region India based out of Kolkata/Delhi/Chennai/Mumbai/Nagpur / Vadodara.Job Description
To support Lead TFA in execution of Turbo-Generator on-site service and repair projects.
To understand scope of work and complete outages well within stipulated schedule.
To Interact with cross functional team to deliver the planned scope on time.
To carry out electrical diagnostic tests on turbo generators.
To troubleshoot technical issues.
To report technical issues from site to engineering team and implement recommendations at site.
To manage relationship with customers for seamless execution of the project.
To identify parts required to return unit back in service.
To adhere to established safety norms and ensure safe work environment at site.
To Identify site hazards (SRA-Safety Risk Assessment) and prepare risk mitigation plan.
Organising Pre and Post critical activity meeting.
Carrying out tools room talk at Site.
Daily reporting to the field Service Head & PM for the outage schedule progress and the next day program.
To document lessons learned during each project.
To prepare detailed inspection report indicating the works carried out, as found damaged parts and replaced parts details along with the recommendations for future outages.
Technical degree/Diploma from a government accredited university/Institute/Institution.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in turbo generator mechanical assembly/disassembly, stator and field rewind and repairs.
Should have strong technical background and hands-on experience in performing visual inspections, electrical tests, field and stator rewinds, and other general repairs on turbo-Generators of different OEMs.
Should possess strong technical skills to read & interpret technical drawings, procedures, quality, and inspection documentation.
Should be conversant with latest generator test methodologies and interpretation/analysis of test results and be able to recognize, predict and document potential failures.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Should possess skills to guide craft labour and winders during overhauls, rewinds, repairs and inspections.
Clear thinker with an ability to focus on the 'critical few' issue/priorities. Able to communicate messages clearly and concisely.
Should be able to prepare outage scheduling, manpower & tooling requirement.
Should possess good interpersonal skills to interface with customer, subcontractors and team members.
Should be willing to mobilize to project site frequently and at short notice.
Should be willing to stay at project site for long periods.
Extensive domestic and/or international travel to projects for various field assignments is required.
Should possess good English/ Hindi communication skills
