The Retention Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the strategy, implementation, and optimization of marketing channels and programs that drive consumer retention at scale. This is a highly collaborative role that works closely with paid, owned, and earned media channel managers, as well as business owners (DTC & eCommerce) to integrate loyalty content and experiences into others programs. The RMM leads our Nuun+ Loyalty Program, DTC Subscribe & Save, Refer-A-Friend, Email Marketing, SMS Marketing, and is expected to optimize these programs while launching new ones. Equal parts creative and analytical, this individual is ultimately responsible for ensuring that we create meaningful and sticky experiences for consumers who are engaged in the brand, and to provide memorable, best-in-class experiences at scale.


  • Owns DTC retention marketing strategies in full - through to implementation and optimization -aiming to increase customer loyalty, LTV, drive engagement, reduce churn, and grow revenue.

  • Manages our Email, SMS, Nuun+ Loyalty Club, and Subscribe & Save channels and is responsible for growing the programs participation, engagement and impact on revenue growth.

  • Takes a test/learn/optimize approach on a constant basis across all activities.

  • Works collaboratively with key stakeholders and business owners to ensure efforts are driving impact beyond program-specific measurements.

  • Integrates personalization and dynamic content into programs by testing (messaging, frequency, send day/time, content etc) and segmenting accordingly.

  • Monitors performance, analyzes data, and reports out on KPIs for all owned programs.

  • Write creative briefs for owned programs and partner with creative and content marketing teams to produce effective, best-in-class assets.

  • Leverage other paid, owned, and earned media channels/programs to increase brand loyalty and engagement in retention programs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing digital marketing programs at agencies or in-house.

  • Excellent presentation skills and storytelling abilities, and comfortable presenting to small or large groups.

  • Comfortable analyzing data and making it actionable to a wide variety of audiences and learning-types.

  • Skilled in the following platforms: Shopify, Zendesk, Yotpo, Recharge, &/or similar.

  • Skilled working within and extracting data and insights from analytics and research platforms a plus, including: Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Facebook Business Manager, SEMRush or Moz Pro.

  • Conceptual understanding of website technologies and integrations, and comfortable applying and testing analytics and tracking implementations.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, relationship building, teamwork, and project management skills.

  • Strong prioritization and time management skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

  • Experience in CPG or the health and active lifestyle industries a plus.

  • Undergraduate degree.
