Business Analyst

Intertek is searching for a Business Analyst to join our team in Arlington Heights, Illinois supporting our Building and Construction division. The ideal Business Analyst candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant work experience in a Business Analyst role.

Position Overview

As part of the Business Solutions Delivery team, the Business Analyst will work closely with the business and IT project teams to perform detailed requirements analysis for various IT-related projects, document current and to-be processes, complete fit-gap analysis and perform/coordinate basic user acceptance testing/training. To succeed in this role, the successful candidate should have proven group facilitation, written, and interpersonal skills and have a natural analytical way of thinking with the ability to explain difficult concepts to both technical and non-technical users both verbally and in writing.

How you'll make an impact in this role:
  • Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and develop and implement solutions.
  • Work with business users and IT to develop and document detailed business and functional requirements, cost benefit analysis, wire frames, storyboards, workflow diagrams, test scripts, training and other documentation.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Facilitate meetings and prepare presentations to share ideas and findings.
  • Facilitate the implementation of IT solution by analyzing project needs, defining project scope, rationalizing requirements, identifying best solution fit/gap, designing process and IT solutions, and supporting IT solution roll-out.
  • Lead implementation of business led initiatives and ongoing reviews of business processes to develop optimization strategies as they relate to the use of a core set of applications.
  • Help identify KPI markers important to business measurement and design IT solutions to capture and report them
  • Work with management to ensure projects are prioritized based on strategic importance and ROI
  • Help propose IT solutions and closely work with Group IT team members to define a solution that aligns with Intertek's IT strategy and the business processes/workflows/needs
  • Coordinate/Complete User Acceptance Testing, Roll-out and user Training
  • Ensure project and resource plans are put in place, tracked, communicated and adhered to

What it takes to be successful in this role:
  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst
  • Experience working with various levels of management and senior leaders throughout an organization
  • Experience with a large, functionally diverse, and informed user base that demands high quality applications
  • Flexibility to provide support after normal work hours when necessary.
  • Strong business acumen combined with IT skills required for successful implementation
  • Must have strong business analysis skills, capable of analyzing a current state business situation and readily visualize potential for improvement
  • Experience in prior implementation of IT system implementations
  • Excellent planning, time management, organization, project management (multiple simultaneous projects) and facilitation skills
  • Ability to prepare detailed business requirements for technology support systems to facilitate improved business processes
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Self-Motivator, ability to work independently
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Teams, Power Point and Outlook
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle and testing methodologies a plus
