Engineer, Quality

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred Minimum of five years' experience with discrete manufacturing and inspection equipment.
  • Minimum of five years' experience with discrete manufacturing and inspection equipment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in aerospace / automotive manufacturing
  • Knowledge of industrial networks and manufacturing automation systems is a plus.
  • Experience with structured methodologies for software engineering, applications development, and manufacturing systems and interfaces is required.
  • Familiar with Aerospace quality requirements.
  • Experience with "SMART Manufacturing" concepts and implementation
  • Leads by example and collaborates well.
  • Is strongly focused on end results; sets objectives which are clearly defined for self and others; gets results consistently over time; avoids peripheral actions that deflect attention from key priorities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to satisfy both internal and external customers.
  • Experience implementing software used in 24x7 shop floor environments.
  • Knowledge of standards and methodology of Project Management Institute (PMI). PMP certification desired but not required.
  • This may require 24/7 Hands-On availability to support plant operations.

  • The key deliverable of this position is the identification, justification, and implementation of Inspection automation and control technologies that add value for HFS and its Stakeholders.
  • Development of Process Visualization, Reporting, and Analytics data sets (Dashboards, reports, data exports)
  • Develop test cases and plans for current and new products
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing/ Business Units to establish annual/ quarterly targets/KPIs and drive overall quality performance Implementing methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products, and production equipment
  • Making sure processes adhere to quality standards
  • Preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data
  • Working in accordance with deadlines for delivery of products


Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • This position shall be responsible for installing, integrating, commissioning, and supporting automation solutions, ranging from equipment selection, preparing CAPEX documents, acting as key point of contact, supporting training and transfer of duties, the equipment qualification process (both internally and with customers), and acting as HFS' consultant on technical issues.
  • Working with Business Unit, Suppliers, and manufacturing site resources, develop and deploy inspection and test automation solutions in-line with the Business Unit's long-term strategy.
  • The position will have responsibility to design and execute the integration of diverse manufacturing process equipment into a cohesive "Smart Manufacturing" network.
  • Work with site and supplier resources to cost justify, procure, and implement modern standardized equipment control systems.
  • Work with appropriate IT and other resources to integrate networked plant floor equipment (account/network administration, security, connectivity, etc...)
  • Serve as a key support resource between Quality Assurance and Operations on automation equipment.
  • Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.
