Loan Operations Manager

Objective

Oversee and ensure the timely, accurate completion of daily loan operations tasks. Provide developmental and managerial direction to an evolving consumer and commercial and loan infrastructure. Incumbent is responsible for supporting resource requirements, products and system development, service development, skill training and overall direction of team members. This includes leveraging systems to achieve maximum efficiency. Ensures regulatory compliance, and is responsible for analysis, solution-oriented recommendations, and planning to meet the strategic needs of the organization. Have strong leadership skills as well as builds and maintain good working relationships with Relationship Managers and other Loan Operations and Administration Managers.

 

Provide assistance to team members and customers including the research and answering of complex loan structure, system and compliance questions. Maintain current procedures with updates in Knowledge and offer suggestions to VP, Loan Operations for process improvements. Participate in software upgrades including developing / performing test scenarios, analyzing / reviewing test results and approving process and procedure changes. Maintain good communications on processing and team performance with VP, Loan Operations.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Assist in the development of new business for Firstrust. Is alert to expressed customer/prospect needs to suggest appropriate services. Directs customers to the appropriate person to open account. Actively sells and promotes corporate products to potential and existing customers. Possesses knowledge of corporate products and services to suggest products.
  • Oversee accurate and efficient new loan boardings to the appropriate loan accounting systems, including renewals, extensions and modifications.
  • Ensure quality control is performed on loans as well as all post-closing documentation is reviewed and exceptions are noted and satisfied.
  • Ensure timely completion and response to internal and external communications.
  • Advanced knowledge of all systems capabilities with a focus on future development. Work closely with team to establish and implement effective procedures and controls.
  • Stay current on applicable regulations and department procedures as well as provide training to ensure compliance
  • Assist with developing and conducting internal audit / quality control reviews. Review areas include G/L and system reconcilements, loan data integrity, and adherence to audit controls, collateral processing and exception follow up.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with VP, Loan Operations, team members and cross functional business partners on performance improvement opportunities and suggestions.
  • Active role in accessing system functionality, performing upgrades and testing. Identify system limitations and work with management to formulate a resolution and implement plan.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Vice President Loan Operations

    DECISION MAKING:

    This position requires the ability to prioritize various daily tasks and determine the best utilization of resources to complete the tasks in the most efficient manner. Decisions relating to daily production are defined by policies and procedures. All other decisions will be made with the oversight of unit or division manager(s).

     

    Essential Functions

    While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee may be required to ascend/descend stairs and work atop a small ladder to store and retrieve files.  The employee will need to position self to lift up to 20 pounds of materials for file maintenance.   The worker sits most of the time, however, some amount of mobility is necessary to accomplish tasks.  The ability to communicate and exchange information verbally and written is required.  The incumbent will operate a computer terminal and phone with repetitive motion, while analyzing or preparing data.  Temperature changes may occur during the work day in the office setting. 

    Knowledge - Skills & Abilities
    • 4 year college degree in a business or accounting degree preferred
    • 3 - 5 year experience in a Consumer, Construction, ABL or Commercial loan operations position
    • Managerial experience is required.
    • Possess extensive loan structure, servicing and regulatory knowledge of Commercial and Consumer loans
    • Possess a demonstrated commitment to quality service
    • Knowledgeable of MS Office Suite
    • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
    • Ability to multi-task with an excellent degree of versatility and flexibility
